Jonnie A. Payoyo, a Bachelor of Secondary Education graduate, was recognized as among the Natatanging Anak ng Talavera during the Gabi ng Parangal on May 13, 2014 at Talavera gymnasium.
The committee selected Payoyo for the award because of his outstanding service in youth leadership worth emulating by the citizens of Talavera. The citation reads as “bilang natatanging pagkilala sa kanyang ipinamalas na katangian at kagalingan sa larangan ng Kabataan: Sa Pamumuno.” (“…in recognition of his outstanding accomplishments as a youth leader.”)
The trophy was given by the local government officials of Talavera, headed by Mayor Nerivi Santos.
“I would like to thank the Lord, my family, GNO Church, my friends, the CED-SC, Wesleyan University-Philippines College of Arts and Sciences, and most of all, the CLSU College of Education which contributed much to molding me as an outstanding person, teacher and leader,” Payoyo said when asked who he would like to thank after receiving the award.
His message to CLSU, particularly CED students, is to be always connected to God and be prayerful. He also said that students should enjoy college life, be responsible and learn to trust one’s self.
Payoyo served as CED-SC President for two (2) terms. He completed his Bachelor of Secondary Education degree major in Filipino on November 2011.
He was also the recipient of The Outstanding Young Novo Ecijano (TOYNE) awarded by the Provincial Youth Development Council of Nueva Ecija on September 2, 2013 and the Ten Outstanding Young Men-Nueva Ecija (TOYM-NE) on June 12, 2013.
