In recognition of the university’s R & D efforts and to provide opportunity for researchers to present their notable accomplishments in an appropriate forum, the university conducted the 28th Agency In-House Review (AIHR) of Completed and Ongoing R & D Projects last August 31 and September 1.

The two-day activity saw the oral presentation of university researchers of their respective completed and ongoing projects in various sessions divided into Research, and Development. The Research session was further subdivided into Crops, Farm Resources and Environment, Livestock, Socio-Economics/Education and Fisheries.

An additional session was also held for the presentation of masteral theses and doctoral dissertations conducted by CLSU faculty and staff members. Moreover, the AIHR featured a poster competition.

Dr. Tereso A. Abella, CLSU President; and Dr. Jocelyn E. Eusebio, director, Crop Research Division of the Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development; graced the occasion and delivered their respective inspirational messages.

Dr. Abella seized the opportunity to mention, among others, the accolades CLSU recently received through the recognition/awards given to a number of faculty members because of their engagement in notable and innovative research endeavors.

He also mentioned the laudable performance of graduates of the College of Veterinary Medicine and College of Engineering in the recent board exams, attributing to a great extent such feat to the faculty members’ engagement in research. “They have time to do research and at the same time deliver quality education to our students”.

For her part, Dr. Eusebio, encouraged the university to put the many technologies it has generated into an entrepreneurial scenario.

“I challenge everybody to do something to put everything into action and to become entrepreneurial and put them into the market,” she said.

She exhorted the researchers to let loose of their fears by knowing how to put everything into action, go for clarity and focus in their research work/agenda and endeavor to do research on a multi-disciplinary level.

On the other hand, Dr. Fe L. Porciuncula, Vice President for Research, Extension and Training; in her welcome remarks, encouraged the researchers to use the potent power of their imagination to identify and pursue through hard work and perseverance “not only the finding of solutions to problems but also the seeking of questions and finding answers through systematic investigation”.

The preparation and holding of the AIHR 2016 was spearheaded by the Research Office headed by Dr. Ma. Excelsis M. Orden, Research Director, in coordination with the VPRET and other concerned offices.

Aside from the faculty and staff researchers, and evaluators, a good number of CLSU students also attended and benefitted from the learning they got from the two-day activity.
