The College of Fisheries- Graduate Students Association (CF-GSA) spearheaded the 3rd CF/FAC In-house Student Research Review last August 23, 2019, at the Freshwater Aquaculture Center (FAC) Conference Room, Central Luzon State University, Science City of Muñoz, Nueva Ecija. The activity featured a total of 23 theses and case studies of students from both undergraduate and graduate programs.
Indeed, the activity served as a venue for the students to have their papers reviewed by the invited panel of evaluators with diverse expertise in the field of fisheries. Among the experts invited were Dr. Joseph Christopher C. Rayos from National Fisheries Research and Development Institute (NFRDI), Ms. Ma. Jodecel C. Danting and Mr. Ruben A. Reyes from Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources- National Freshwater Fisheries Technology Center (BFAR-NFFTC), Ms. Mary P. Tauli from Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources- Cordillera Administrative Region (BFAR-CAR) and Ms. Mariel C. Benigno from Cavite State University (CvSU). Two plenary speakers from the CF/FAC were also invited to share their expertise. Dr. Apolinario V. Yambot shared his works on molecular research and Dr. Emmanuel M. Vera Cruz shared his works on recent technologies at FAC for increased tilapia fingerlings production.
The activity was harmonized with the theme “Mainstreaming fisheries R&D through research industry-driven alliances”. The activity was conducted with the objectives of developing presentation skills of students by exposing them to an academic conference atmosphere, providing researchable ideas for students, serving as a venue to showcase students’ theses and case studies, and enhancing research capacity of undergraduate and graduate students as next leaders of the industry.
