A farmer-partner of the CLSU Techno Village Development Program’s (TVDP) Straight Grow-out Technology using FAC Selected Tilapia (FaST) from Freshwater Aquaculture Center (FAC), had his first bountiful harvest of tilapia.

Mr. Lazaro Gacusan, the farmer-adopter of the technology from Brgy. Cabisuculan, Science City of Muñoz, Nueva Ecija harvested 23.4 kg of tilapia (from the sample harvest of 100 tilapia). The FAC team headed by the technical expert, Mr. Eddie Boy T. Jimenez together with Mr. Jayson V. Isais and Edgard Asuncion witnessed the harvesting held on October 28, 2021. While Mr. Randy L. Kwan, TVDP Focal Person supervised the activity.

According to Mr. Gacusan, his initial harvest had a gross sale of Php 2,340.00. "Dagdag na kabuhayan ito para sa aming pamilya. Dito pa lang namin naibebenta sa barangay, naubos agad. Salamat sa CLSU Techno Village,” he stressed.

The market value of the tilapia harvested was Php 100.00/kg.

He was very thankful to CLSU for extending this technology in their area. He hoped that the succeeding harvests would cater to the demands in his locality and nearby barangays as well as the local market.
