The Technology Village Development Program (TVDP) through the dairy goat production module awarded five milking goats, three Anglo Nubians, two Saanen, and a milking stand to its farmer-partner, Mr. Mauro Reyes last February 12, 2022, in Brgy. Calabalabaan, Science City of Muñoz.

The Small Ruminant Center (SRC) team led by their head, Mr. Neal A. Del Rosario together with the University Extension Center’s (UEC) TVDP focal persons, Mr. Randy L. Kwan and Mr. Erwin M. Valiente, attended the said awarding ceremony.

In the event, Ms. Leny Lyn Del Rosario, in charge of goat’s milk processing, also demonstrated the proper milking of goat and goat’s milk product development. Moreover, participants were taught to plant Napier grass and legumes such as indigo, ipil-ipil, rensonii, and kakawate as a source of supplements. Aside from milk processing, hands-on milking and processing were done by the farmer-partner and his farmworkers afterward.

Moreover, another farmer-partner from Villa Isla, Mr. Roy Cabrera received a deworming medicine for his goats from SRC. While Mr. Ryan Enriquez, also a farmer-beneficiary reported that his dairy goats already produced 36,550 ml (36.5 L) of milk in 7 days and sold at PHP 150.00/liter.

Through the TVDP, five beneficiaries of dairy goats from the Science City of Muñoz have benefitted already as they have also been trained on dairy goat production and milk processing before the distribution of goats.
