UEC, UGADO capacitate Rural Women on free-range chicken production

The University Extension Center (UEC) and University Gender and Development Office (UGADO) in collaboration with the Science City of Muñoz (SCM) Local Government Unit (LGU) trained 20 rural women from barangays Catalanacan and San Antonio, Science City of Muñoz, Nueva Ecija on free-range chicken production last March 30, 2022, in Brgy. Catalanacan Conference Hall, SCM.

The training aims to expand the food resources and income of participating households. Particularly, it seeks to enhance gender awareness of women participants and their ability to mainstream it in their development activities.

Mr. Armando C. Lagasca, an animal expert from UEC, and Ms. Beverly R. Marzo, City Livestock Inspector of the SCM LGU discussed topics on household food production, chicken breeds, and their characteristics, housing and feeding management practice, and health management practices.

The training is part of the Barangay Integrated Development Approach for Nutrition Improvement (BIDANI) program to empower the local leaders in developing and implementing integrated development programs to achieve good governance, poverty alleviation, food security, health, and nutrition improvement, and general well-being of the people.
