June 10, 2022 - 02:19 pm

Around 40 farmers from the province of La Union (LU) are currently at Central Luzon State University (CLSU) today, June 10, to experience and scout for new farming technologies that they can adopt to boost their livelihood. They are specifically interested in the use of hydroponics, aquaponics, and the indoor and vertical farming system (IVFS). The faculty members from the Institute of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering of Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University (DMMMSU) assisted the group, particularly in arranging and coordinating the tour.
Engr. Christopher Pascual, IVFS expert and College of Engineering faculty, welcomed the group to their technology demonstration farm where they grow strawberries and other high-value crops. The group is also scheduled to visit the Ramon Magsaysay Center for Agricultural Resources and Environmental Studies for organic farming technologies, the Center for Tropical Mushroom Research and Development for mushroom production, and Agriculture and Food Technology Business Incubator for agripreneurial practices.
