BPI Accords 6 Plant Variety Protection to CLSU

The Bureau of Plant Industry (BPI) - Plant Variety Protection Office (PVPO) accorded Central Luzon State University six (6) new plant variety protection certificates for the newly developed rice varieties through the efforts and intensive research of the faculty-researchers under the University Research Program Office led by Dr. Maria Excelsis M. Orden (former Director), Dr. Quirino D. Dela Cruz (former Director), and Paulina J. Alvaran from the Crops and Resources Research and Development Center (CRRDC).
The plant variety protection is an exclusive right to control the production, sale, and distribution of the following new plant varieties: CLS-4 or the CLRICE-4, a white sticky rice with 130 days of maturity;
CLS-5 or the CLRICE-5, a white aromatic rice with 119-126 days of maturity;
CLS-6 or the CLRICE-6, a white aromatic rice with 110 to 117 days of maturity;
CLS-7 or the CLRICE-7, a light purple rice with 120-126 days of maturity;
CLS-8 or the CLRICE-8, a dark purple rice with 120-126 days of maturity;
CLS-9 or the CLRICE-9, a white sticky rice with 115-118 days of maturity.
All the issued certificates are valid until August 2043.
