Dr. Antonio J. Barroga, a faculty from the Department of Animal Science, College of Agriculture (DAS-CAg) reaped the best paper award in animal nutrition during the 60th Philippine Society of Animal Science (PSAS) Scientific Meeting and Annual Convention last October 17-20, 2023.

Dr. Barroga presented the research paper of his advisee, Dr. Sean R. Vidad, former CAg PhD student entitled “Metabolizable Energy Values of Basal Feedstuff for IP-Itim (Anas platyrhynchos).”

Meanwhile, six other faculty members from DAS-CAg also attended the conference and successfully presented three (3) posters entitled: “Optimizing ItikPINAS Egg Hatchability by Implementing Water Misting for Enhanced Incubation”; “Substrate Effect on the Nutrient Digestibility of Black Soldier Fly Larvae in Chickens”; and “Comparison of Nonlinear Models for Growth Curves of ItikPINAS Khaki”.

The PSAS Convention coincides with the 7th International Livestock Biotechnology Symposium and the 41st PSAS Visayas Chapter Annual Convention with a theme “Strengthening the Animal Industry towards Resiliency.”
