CASS Faculty Participate in Exchange Program in Japan

Two faculty members from the Department of Social Sciences of the College of Arts and Social Sciences (CASS) participated in an international exchange program under the framework of the Sakura Science Exchange Program administered by the Japan Science and Technology Agency at Hokkaido University from March 6 to 15, 2023.
Participants of the program are researchers from various countries including Thailand, Sri Lanka, Nepal, South Korea, and Japan. Asst. Prof. Floper Gershwin Manuel, head of the Center for Central Luzon Studies and Assoc. Prof. Melanie Tolentino, head of the Department of Social Sciences, attended the said program.
“The program is an intensive course for students interested in health. The mixture of participants provides a great opportunity for future research collaborations. It is also a pleasure to be sharing my experiences in doing interdisciplinary collaborative research,” Prof. Tolentino, who served as a facilitator in the program, said.
The participation was a result of the initial talks of CASS for possible collaborations with Hokkaido University, particularly in areas of social research.
