Two faculty members from the College of Fisheries attended the International Research Knowledge on Halal Industry Program organized by the University Putra Malaysia (UPM) and the Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEARCA) held in Putrajaya, Malaysia, from September 3 to 16, 2023.

Mr. Aries Paul D. Padron and Ms. Lara Millen S. Pengson, both from the Department of Aquatic Post-harvest, specifically set out on a knowledge journey funded by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), via the Leveling-Up Philippine Higher Education Institutions in Agriculture, Fisheries, and Natural Resources (LevelUPHEI-AFAR) program.

The Halal Industry Program aims to bridge the knowledge gap by equipping scholars and the academe with the expertise needed to contribute and boost the halal industry's potential. The two-week program included 10 comprehensive lectures designed to provide an in-depth understanding of various aspects of the halal industry, ranging from certification processes to market dynamics.

The successful completion and participation of CF faculty in the program underscores the dedication to internationalization and to improving educational and research partnerships in Southeast Asia.
