CF Faculty Visit 2 Universities and Attend International Conference in Malaysia

Three faculty members from the College of Fisheries (CF) visited two universities in Malaysia from February 26 – March 3, 2023. The team met with the representatives of Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM) and Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) and discussed the specifics of collaborations to be included in the memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Central Luzon State University (CLSU) which is currently on review.
During the MOU discussions, UTHM was represented by Dr. Kamarul Rahim Bin Kamarudin, together with other faculty members, Dr. Aqilah binti Awg Abdul Rahman, Dr. Furzani binti Pa'ee, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Abdul Latiff bin Abu Bakar and Dr. Salasiah Binti Mohamad. While UPM was represented by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hasliza Abu Hassim and Dr. Siti Izera Ismail.
The team also participated in the conference/workshop on the Future of Biodiversity Collections in Malaysia. The conference, held at the Faculty of Engineering, UPM was joined by policymakers, museum curators, private collectors, biodiversity researchers, taxonomy enthusiasts, and non-governmental organizations (NGOs). Participants from CLSU were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hazel Monica M. Peralta, AREM Dept. Head, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Lorenz J. Fajardo, CLSU- Institute for Climate Change and Environmental Management (ICCEM) Head, and Ms. Cherry Ann G. Kindipan, Instructor. Also with them were Mr. Jhon Christian P. Suyom, Instructor and currently on study leave for his doctorate in UPM, and Ms. Arlene L. Madriaga, a CLSU Alumna. Dr. Peralta presented her work on copepod sampling and preservation and Dr. Fajardo presented the collections and plans for ICCEM.
