CLSU Hosts 2nd Int’l and 5th Nat’l GAD Research Congress

The Central Luzon State University (CLSU) - Gender and Development Office (UGADO) hosts the 2nd International and 5th National Gender and Development Research Congress with a theme “Digital Innovation and Technology for Gender Inclusivity” on November 15-17, 2023, at the Research and Extension Amphitheater.
Dr. Kirsten Dyck, an English Language Fellow from the US Department of State and Angeles University Foundation graced the event as one of the keynote speakers where she discussed the need for policies to combat gender-based violence, media literacy, and training police in digital forensics, cybercrime and a change of attitude of those in the tech industry.
In addition, the second keynote speaker, Atty. Kristine Rosary E. Yuzon-Chavez, Executive Director of the Philippine Commission on Women highlighted the need for inclusive digital access especially for women.
Meanwhile, CLSU President Edgar A. Orden commended the event and emphasized that such activities provide an opportunity to showcase gender-responsive research and development initiatives related to digital innovation.
“We keep on innovating. We keep on researching. We keep on looking for knowledge and we should not stop. Aside from teaching, we must also do research,” Dr. Orden reiterated in his speech to motivate the participants and guests.
The different sessions began right after the opening program featuring different topics which include Positive Parenting in the Digital Era: Balancing Technology and Child Development; Gender Responsive, Inclusive, Digital Resilient and Safe (GRID RS) Approach in Policies, Programs, and Practice; and Online Sexual Harassment, among others.
GAD-responsive posters were also on display to showcase the different entries from various students and researchers from CLSU and other universities nationwide.
