CLSU & SCM Unite for Tree Planting Activity
In celebration of the World Environment Day and Philippine Environment Month, specifically, Arbor Day which emphasizes the importance of trees and environmental conservation, the Central Luzon State University (CLSU) Office of the Vice President for Research and Extension (OVPRE), in collaboration with the Science City of Muñoz LGU thru the City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO), launched a campaign dubbed as “Ride For A Cause: A Collaborative Tree Planting Activity” on June 19, held at Barangay Villa Isla.
Supported by the University Extension Program Office (UEPO), Institute for Climate Change and Environmental Management (ICCEM), and Central Luzon Agriculture, Aquatic, and Natural Resources Research and Development Consortium (CLAARRDEC), Dr. Armando N. Espino, Jr., Vice President for R&E, spearheaded the said activity along with Dr. Gella Patria Abella, ICCEM Head; Dr. Eugenia G. Baltazar, UEPO Director; Ms. Myrna C. Dacanay, Barangay Chairperson of Villa Isla, and Engr. June M. Mico, Department Head of CENRO.
During the short program, Dr. Espino encouraged the local authorities and individuals to take action in producing a greener environment amidst the effect of global warming. More than 100 Narra seedlings were prepared and planted in Villa Isla - an identified ecotourism site within the city.
