VP for Academic Affairs Receives the 2021 Outstanding Filipino JSPS Fellow Award

Dr. Renato G. Reyes, Vice-President for Academic Affairs brings honor to the University as he received the 2021 Outstanding Filipino by the Japan Society for Promotion of Science (JSPS) fellow in the field of Agriculture. The awarding was held today, November 23, 2021, via Zoom during the JSPS Alumni Association of the Philippines Inc. (JAAP) 2021 National Research Forum and Awarding of Outstanding Filipino JSPS Fellow with the theme “Collaborative Research: Response to the Challenge of the Times.”

The award was given to Dr. Reyes in recognition of his valuable contributions in research and development, and the promotion of the mushroom industry in the Philippines. He was acknowledged for his pioneering works including the discovery and development of production and processing technologies of edible and medicinal mushrooms. Moreover, Dr. Reyes also presented his winning research paper entitled “Philippine Mushrooms and the SDGs: Recent Advances of Mushroom R&D in the Philippines”.

To recall, Dr. Reyes also served as the President of JAAP from 2018 to 2019 wherein he launched the JAAP International Research and Development Conference and was able to strengthen the outreach program, seminars and workshop on mushroom production.
