CLSU Advocate Human Rights Through Education

Central Luzon State University (CLSU) remains at the forefront of human rights advocacy through education, as demonstrated by its active participation in the Lakbay Karapatan Tungo sa Kamalayan (Lakaran) 2024: KAKAMPI Meet, held on September 19, 2024, at the Pavilion, Hiyas ng Bulacan. A major highlight of the event was the recognition of CLSU as a Center for Human Rights Education (CHRE), celebrating the University’s efforts in promoting a culture of respect, dignity, and justice. Dr. Ravelina R. Velasco, Vice President for Academic Affairs, and Atty. Jay B. Villafria, Jr. represented CLSU in the ceremonial signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA), reaffirming the university's commitment to human rights advocacy. This MOA signifies the strengthening partnership between the CHR and academic institutions. In his opening remarks, Atty. Leoraé Valmonte, Regional Director of the Commission on Human Rights (CHR) Region 3, emphasized the importance of higher education in institutions (HEIs) in fostering human rights advocacy in the region. "HEIs are the incubators of human rights consciousness," he stated. In his keynote address, Atty. Richard P. Palpal-Latoc, Chairperson of the CHR, reiterated the importance of institutional partnerships in advancing basic rights education. He highlighted that the CHR’s Human Rights Action Centers (HRACs) serve as vital hubs where theoretical knowledge is transformed into practical action. The Region stands a key player in the fight for human dignity and justice, reaffirming its strong commitment to human rights education to ensure that these are both taught and practiced within academic spaces and beyond.

TESO Continues CAT Promotion Through Pencil Donation Drive

Passed from the hands of hopeful dreamers to the hands of young learners, the Testing and Evaluation Services Office (TESO) continues its promotion of the CLSU Admission Test (CAT) while extending support to the primary learners of the DepEd-CLSU Elementary Laboratory School through a Pencil Donation Drive themed “Ang Lapis Mo, Ang Susulat sa mga Pangarap Ko” on September 28, 2026. University President Dr. Evaristo A. Abella led the distribution of 1,300 pencils to 600 pupils, alongside Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Ravelina R. Velasco, Head of the Testing and Evaluation Center Dr. Elmer D. Dela Rosa, and School Principal Jocelyn De Guzman. The Pencil Donation Drive forms part of the CAT promotion campaign and was made possible through the contributions of examinees who took the previous CAT.

CLSU, Soroptimist International Launch ATE GOES AGRI Scholarship for Female Agriculture Students

Central Luzon State University (CLSU), through its Office of Student Affairs (OSA), officially inked a Memorandum of Agreement with Soroptimist International of Metro Manila Northwest District to establish the ATE GOES AGRI Scholarship Program: Advancing Growth, Resilience, and Inclusion through Education. The MOA signing was led by University President Dr. Evaristo A. Abella, Dr. OSA Dean Irene G. Bustos, and District Director Ms. Jennifer Joan Bayot. The event was witnessed by Ms. Josephine D. Cariño. The educational assistance program empowers financially disadvantaged young women pursuing agriculture degrees by building their technical and leadership skills to prepare them for careers in sustainable agriculture, food security, and community development. This partnership will benefit five qualified female students from the CLSU College of Agriculture who demonstrate financial need. Each scholar will receive a PHP20,000 stipend for the academic year. The CLSU-OSA will facilitate the program's implementation, tasked with screening applicants, verifying academic status, monitoring scholars, and managing progress reports. This new partnership underscores a shared commitment to breaking financial barriers for women in agriculture, equipping the next generation of female leaders to drive innovation in their communities.

Central Luzon State University (CLSU) has once again sustained its Reporter status in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings following a comprehensive evaluation of its institutional performance. This ranking framework assessed the university across fundamental areas, including teaching environment, research environment, research quality, industry engagement, and international outlook. Marking its fourth consecutive year of inclusion in THE-WUR, CLSU remains committed to achieving a ranked position by strengthening its research output, expanding scholarly publications, and enhancing global academic collaborations.
