The Central Luzon State University (CLSU) and the University of Makati (UMak) held a ceremonial signing on October 8, 2025, for the “University-to-University Collaboration Project” (U2U Collab), which aims to strengthen General Education (GE) instruction through collaboration, innovation, and shared research activities.
The University of Makati’s College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (CLAS) led the U2U Collab, with Associate Professor Tessie Tapiador-Sagadraca, CLAS Dean, emphasizing that the project intends to improve the delivery of General Education courses by supporting faculty development, updating the curriculum, and fostering research partnerships between the two institutions. This collaboration also aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals for 2030.
The program kicked off with university profile presentations and welcome remarks from Dr. Evaristo A. Abella, CLSU President, who expressed appreciation to UMak for initiating the partnership, highlighting that “collaboration is the name of the game” in higher education.
The College of Arts and Social Sciences (CASS) and the College of Science (COS), led by their deans Dr. Jay C. Santos and Dr. Angeles M. De Leon, respectively, together with their faculty, participated in the event through follow-up discussions, presentations, and planning sessions with UMak CLAS faculty.
Prof. Virgilio B. Tabbu, Vice President for Student Services and Community Development at UMak, conveyed his gratitude for CLSU’s hospitality and support. The event wrapped up with closing remarks from Dr. Santos, who underscored the importance of partnerships in advancing academic excellence and innovation.
