Recognizing the leadership of Central Luzon State University (CLSU) in agriculture and agricultural technologies, the Provincial Government of Nueva Ecija (PGNE) officials led by Provincial Administrator Atty. Joma San Pedro, presented the plan of the province to establish a Food Processing Facility (FPF) for high-value and other leading crops within the province, a first of its kind in the Region, today, July 31 at the New Administration Conference Room.
“Under Governor Aurelio “Oyie” Matias Umali’s directive, we are here to seek CLSU’s help and craft a feasibility study and business plan for the proposed establishment of the FPF, considering that the CLSU is one of the leading universities in the country,” said Atty. San Pedro.
In response, University President Dr. Evaristo A. Abella accepted the challenge and recognized the importance of the proposal to maximize the impact of the university not just in the local community but also in the province and the region.
“With the technical expertise of our faculty researchers and extension workers, we are in full support of this endeavor of the PGNE and we are looking forward to this partnership which hopefully will transcend politics and generations for the betterment of our province,” Dr. Abella affirmed.
Other officials from PGNE included Ms. Mara San Pedro, Provincial Tourism Officer, Engr. Marlon Hernandez, Provincial Engineer, Dr. Jobeat Agliam, Provincial Agriculturist, and Mr. Angelo Piccio, Provincial Planning and Development Office.
Meanwhile, CLSU officials include Dr. Ariel G. Mactal, VP for Administration, Dr. Karenina B. Romualdo, VP for Business Affairs, Dr. Celyrah B. Castillo, Dean of the College of Home Science and Industry, Dr. Marvin M. Cinense, Director of the Philippine Sino Center for Agricultural Technology, Dr. Aldrin Badua, Director of the University Extension Program Office, Assoc. Prof. Jaypee Estigoy, Director of the Crops Production Division, along with other faculty and staff who shared their expertise and possible contribution with the project.
