CLSU, DA-RFO III Successfully Host Hybrid Rice Harvest Derby

The Central Luzon State University (CLSU) and the Department of Agriculture Regional Field Office III (DA-RFO III), in collaboration with the Nueva Ecija Office of the Provincial Agriculturist, hosted a “Hybrid Rice Harvest Derby” at the University Business Affairs Program's (UBAP) rice production area today, September 19, showcasing various hybrid rice varieties to local farmers. The derby drew nearly 150 farmers from the District 2 municipalities and cities of Nueva Ecija, along with representatives from key seed companies and agricultural institutions. Mr. Marlon Ingusan, a 40-year-old farmer from Lupao, Nueva Ecija, highlighted the importance of such events. “Umaatend ako ng mga ganitong derby para sa susunod na taniman ay alam na namin kung anong variety ang magandang itanim at kung saan kami mas kikita,” Mr. Ingusan said. The event featured a diverse lineup of top seed companies and research institutions presenting their best-performing hybrid seeds. These included SeedWorks, Enviro Scope Synergy Inc., Green & Grow Teknologies, BioSeed, Leads Agri, SL Agritech Corporation, Bayer Crop Science, Syngenta, Aljay Agro Industrial Solutions Inc., Pro Agri Seed Corp, and the Philippine Rice Research Institute (PhilRice). Key individuals present during the event were Vice President for Research and Extension Dr. Emmanuel M. Vera Cruz, representing University President Dr. Evaristo A. Abella, Dr. Karenina B. Romualdo, Vice President for Business Affairs, Dr. Lowell Rebillaco, Supervising Agriculturist, Dr. Jovita B. Agliam, Provincial Agriculturist, Mr. Christian Ramos, Regional Seed Coordinator, and Assoc. Prof. Jaypee H. Estigoy, UBAP Crops Production Division Director. The knowledge gained from the derby empowered farmers to make informed decisions and sustain their success in future cropping seasons.

We vow to respond to the needs of our communities, ensuring a positive societal impact,” VP Velasco said. She further emphasized the administration's support for infrastructural development and student welfare, stating “For our facilities, laboratories, and learning environment, our administration will provide support funds for conducive learning and workspaces and deliver student-centered services for all CLSUans.” CLSU looks forward to the official AACCUP results, confident that this positive evaluation reaffirms its dedication to enduring quality. #SievingForExcellence

GASS Program Leads Zumba for a Cause

The Central Luzon State University (CLSU), through the General Administrative Support and Services Program (GASS), is currently conducting a Zumba for a Cause event. This charitable activity has successfully garnered the participation of more than 100 individuals. All proceeds collected from the event will be directly contributed to the Project HANDOG (Hakbang ng Akademya para sa Nasalanta, Dala ay Oportunidad at Ginhawa) - an initiative to provide assistance and relief to victims of the recent typhoon.

CLSU Claims 2nd Spot Among Top-Performing Schools in the 2025 Agriculturist Licensure Exam

The Central Luzon State University (CLSU), through the College of Agriculture, has once again proven its status as a Center of Excellence in the recently conducted Agriculturist Licensure Exam administered by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) in November 2025. The University was recognized as the second-highest-performing school in the 2025 Agriculturist Licensure Examination, with 208 “Golden Grains” successfully passing, earning CLSU an overall performance rating of 91.63%, up from its previous rating of 82.57%.
