The Central Luzon State University was given a provincial clearance by the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) to fully energize the 997-kilo watt power solar panels installed in the rooftop of the eight buildings of the University today, March 1. The Rooftop Solar Power Plant Project is a value adding service provided by the First Gen Energy Solutions, Inc. (FGES) to CLSU, and initiative which started in 2019. It is in favor of the advocacy of PI Energy Inc. (PEI) for clean energy, and it reaffirms the University’s mission to apply knowledge and technologies for environmental protection and sustainable development. The ceremony was graced by Dr. Danilo S. Vargas, Vice President for Administration; Mr. Carlo Raul C. Divina, Acting Director of Physical Plant and Site Development Services (PPSDS); Engr. Renato Dela Cruz, Chief of Electrical Section, and PEI and SOLARIC technical team headed by Engr. Nicanor Panganiban. Technical staff from the Nueva Ecija II Electric Cooperative, Inc. (NEECO II) supervised the full energization of photovoltaic (PV) solar panels and validated its ability to generate power. “Through these solar panels, the University can reduce its electricity cost by at least 20% of its total monthly consumption,” said Dr. Vargas. The eight buildings that are involved in the project are CLSU ICT Research and Development Training Center (CLIRDEC), College of Home Science and Industry (CHSI) Culinary Arts, CLSU Auditorium, FPJ Communication Hall, Library of the College of Agriculture, Multi-purpose Hall, Ramon Magsaysay-Center for Agricultural Resources and Environmental Studies (RM-CARES), and Agriculture and Food Technology Business Incubator (AFTBI).
