Recognizing the hard work and perseverance of its graduands, Central Luzon State University (CLSU) held its traditional Tea Party and Recognition Program today, July 18, at the Dr. Pedro A. Abella Graduation Site.
The event kicked off with the procession of the academic honorees and special awardees, greeted by applause and congratulations from the faculty and staff, led by the CLSU Executives, Deans, and Directors.
During the ceremony, the 3 Summa Cum Laude, 172 Magna Cum Laude, 955 Cum Laude, 8 with High Honors, 35 with Honors, and 66 special awardees took center stage to receive their medals and certificates, accompanied by their parents.
In addition, ten medals from Senator Imee Marcos were awarded to the highest academic achievers from each college, accompanied by her video message congratulating the graduating class. Meanwhile, the Commission on Higher Education (CHEd), led by J. Prospero E. E. Vera III, also sponsored a medal for the top academic achiever.
In his message, Dr. Roy Searca Jose P. Dela Cruz, member of the CLSU Board of Regents and President of Faculty Association Inc. conveyed his well-wishes to the graduating CLSU Golden Grains as they embark on their respective career paths.
“Kayo ang aming mga Gintong Butil na isasabog sa ating lipunan upang magbigay ng karunungan at magpalago sa ating bayan… Dalhin ninyo sa inyong paglabas ng CLSU ang mga turo ng inyong mga guro at propessor. Nawa’y maging matagumpay kayo sa inyong minimithing pangarap at wag makalimot na bumalik at magbigay pugay sa pamantasang pinagtapusan,” Dr. Dela Cruz said.
In a heartfelt response, class valedictorian Jeremiah B. Ferrer reflected on the four major aspects of their college life: failure, survival, purpose, and success. He encouraged his batchmates to strive to become the best versions of themselves as they enter the next chapter of their lives.
“Indeed, all of our experiences and practical learning in college can be applied in the latter stages of our lives. The grades we obtain during our undergraduate programs, whether dos, tres, or uno represent our commitment, sacrifices, and passion in our chosen field,” Ferrer stated. However, what's more interesting is that none of these numbers will determine our future or the outcome of our lives,” he highlighted.
Despite the cloudy weather, the event concluded on a high note, with graduates singing the parting song and the CLSU Hymn with pride and honor.
