Central Luzon State University (CLSU) led by Dr. Evaristo A. Abella, University President, and the University Extension Program Office (UEPO) under the leadership of Dr. Edgar A. Orden, VP for Research and Extension (R&E), inked a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for the establishment of the Technology Village Development Program (TVP) in the Municipality of Guimba, Nueva Ecija on April 1, 2024 at the CLAARRDEC Conference Room.
Guimba Mayor Jesulito E. Galapon signed the agreement with Ms. Nida L. Lanuza, Municipal Agriculturist as witness making the partnership official in terms of livelihood development and assistance for local residents and technology adoption for farmers and fisherfolks.
Dr. Abella after signing the agreement recognized the role of LGUs as development managers and key end-users of the technologies developed by the University. “One way of showing our commitment to strengthen community relations is to extend the mature technologies of CLSU in assisting our farmers to uplift their economic lives, upang magkaroon sila ng higit na kaalaman sa pagsasaka, kita at pangkabuhayan,” Dr. Abella said.
Also present during the event were the officials from LGU Guimba, Ms. Angelita P. Pales, Administrative Officer V, Mr. King Philip D. David, Municipal Accountant, Maria Luisa F. Bala, Market Supervisor, Ms. Linesey V. Salvador and Ms. Alyssa Kim C. Dizon, Agricultural Technologist.
The Technology Village Development Program is an extension modality conceptualized by CLSU to create a hub of matured CLSU technologies within a community where local farmers can adopt the production of Special Purpose Rice (SPR), Mushroom, Itik-Pinas, Dairy Goat, and Tilapia Grow-out among others. CLSU TVPs are currently located in the Municipality of Science City of Muñoz and Talavera Nueva Ecija.
