CLSU-SCF Disseminates Advantages of High-Performance Computing

The CLSU Supercomputing Facility (CLSU-SCF) headed by Dr. Amore A. San Juan organized a seminar for the students, faculty and staff to disseminate the importance and advantages of High-Performance Computing (HPC) held at the CLSU ICT Research and Development Training Center (CLIRDEC) Building on April 23, 2024. With the theme, "Unleashing the Power: An introduction to high-performance computing (HPC) and its diverse application," Dr. Ravelina R. Velasco, VP for Academic Affairs graced the hybrid event and expressed her appreciation to the almost 200 faculty and students on-site, via Zoom and livestreaming via Facebook for showing their support and interest to this initiative. Dr. San Juan discussed the history and fundamental principles of High-Performance Computing (HPC) and emphasized the significance of HPC as a tool for optimizing computational performance and maximizing efficiency in data-intensive processes. On the other hand, Engr. Jacky John Felix from the Agricultural Mechanization Division of the Philippine Center for Postharvest Development and Mechanization (PHilMech), provided a detailed discussion about computer simulation using the Finite Element Method for structural design and the Discrete Element Method for particles. Attendees also had the opportunity to delve into the vast potential of HPC, engage in discussions on its applications and career prospects, as well as explore the use of computer simulations in areas such as development and agriculture. The SCF is under the College of Science (COS) which provides services for open and free sharing of HPC computing resources in CLSU and may be reached via email scf@clsu.edu.ph or its official Facebook Page - CLSU Supercomputing Facility.

TESO Continues CAT Promotion Through Pencil Donation Drive

Passed from the hands of hopeful dreamers to the hands of young learners, the Testing and Evaluation Services Office (TESO) continues its promotion of the CLSU Admission Test (CAT) while extending support to the primary learners of the DepEd-CLSU Elementary Laboratory School through a Pencil Donation Drive themed “Ang Lapis Mo, Ang Susulat sa mga Pangarap Ko” on September 28, 2026. University President Dr. Evaristo A. Abella led the distribution of 1,300 pencils to 600 pupils, alongside Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Ravelina R. Velasco, Head of the Testing and Evaluation Center Dr. Elmer D. Dela Rosa, and School Principal Jocelyn De Guzman. The Pencil Donation Drive forms part of the CAT promotion campaign and was made possible through the contributions of examinees who took the previous CAT.

CLSU, Soroptimist International Launch ATE GOES AGRI Scholarship for Female Agriculture Students

Central Luzon State University (CLSU), through its Office of Student Affairs (OSA), officially inked a Memorandum of Agreement with Soroptimist International of Metro Manila Northwest District to establish the ATE GOES AGRI Scholarship Program: Advancing Growth, Resilience, and Inclusion through Education. The MOA signing was led by University President Dr. Evaristo A. Abella, Dr. OSA Dean Irene G. Bustos, and District Director Ms. Jennifer Joan Bayot. The event was witnessed by Ms. Josephine D. Cariño. The educational assistance program empowers financially disadvantaged young women pursuing agriculture degrees by building their technical and leadership skills to prepare them for careers in sustainable agriculture, food security, and community development. This partnership will benefit five qualified female students from the CLSU College of Agriculture who demonstrate financial need. Each scholar will receive a PHP20,000 stipend for the academic year. The CLSU-OSA will facilitate the program's implementation, tasked with screening applicants, verifying academic status, monitoring scholars, and managing progress reports. This new partnership underscores a shared commitment to breaking financial barriers for women in agriculture, equipping the next generation of female leaders to drive innovation in their communities.

Central Luzon State University (CLSU) has once again sustained its Reporter status in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings following a comprehensive evaluation of its institutional performance. This ranking framework assessed the university across fundamental areas, including teaching environment, research environment, research quality, industry engagement, and international outlook. Marking its fourth consecutive year of inclusion in THE-WUR, CLSU remains committed to achieving a ranked position by strengthening its research output, expanding scholarly publications, and enhancing global academic collaborations.
