The Central Luzon State University (CLSU), through the Office of Student Affairs (OSA) and the University Supreme Student Council (USSC), officially welcomed another academic year through the annual event dubbed as "Sinag ng Kalinangan, Agapay at Dalubsahan (SIKAD),” marking the start of Academic Year (AY) 2025-2026. The SIKAD aims to immerse freshmen and transfer students in the university's culture and introduce them to CLSU’s student life. This year's event kicked off with the Students Parade, attended by more than 4,000 freshmen, accompanied by senior students wearing their respective college colors. The parade traversed from the Visionary Gate to the Main Gate and proceeded to the Auditorium for the opening program. During the opening program, Dr. Evaristo A. Abella, the University President, welcomed the freshmen students and encouraged them to pursue and focus on their studies and finish their chosen degrees. In his remarks, he emphasized that the students at CLSU are fortunate individuals who are meant to be in this institution. “Kaya sa ating mga first year students, tandaan po ninyo na kaya kayo nandito ay para mag-aral at matapos ang inyong degrees. Tandaan ninyo ang sakripisyo ng mga magulang ninyo kung bakit kayo pinadala dito sa pamantasang ito,” said President Abella. Moreover, a new set of elected USSC Officials took an oath of office recognizing their vital role in advancing the welfare of students. The first day of SIKAD was marked by the enthusiastic participation of students in various activities, such as the CLS-U Matter: Health and Wellness Fair at CLSU Infirmary and Happy Tummy para sa Sielesyuans, a feeding program during the opening ceremony. The BIZZ-Arangkada Bazaar also provided several students with the opportunity to display their entrepreneurial skills. Moreover, various college student-journalists attended LIBOT, an event held at the OVPAA Amphitheater to sharpen their journalism skills. The SIKAD 2025 event, with its blend of formal introductions, cultural presentations, and student engagement, successfully set the stage for a promising academic year at CLSU.
