CLSU TRANSNATIONAL EDUCATION PROJECT HOSTS PROFESSORS FROM UNIVERSITY OF LIVERPOOL

Eight distinguished experts and professors from University of Liverpool (UoL), United Kingdom visited the university last January 8 to evaluate and set the direction of the Transnational Education (TNE) Project between CLSU and UoL regarding the offering of the dual degree program PhD in Sustainable Food System by Research. Dr. Jonathan Rushton, Director of the Center of Excellence in Sustainable Food Systems in Liverpool, headed the delegation composed of his fellow professors and project supervisors, Dr. David Fernig, Dr. Rob Smith, Dr. James Stewart, Dr. Andrew Morse, Dr. David Montagnes, Dr. Grace Thaxton and Dr. Peter Walley. Dr. Renato G. Reyes, CLSU Vice President for Academic Affairs, welcomed the visiting professors and expressed his high hopes and expectations for the program, even mentioning it as a historic development for CLSU being the first higher education institution (HEI) in the country to offer this kind of program. Dr. Ravelina R. Velasco, Dean, College of Fisheries and TNE Project lead, hosted the meeting. The UK professors were able to meet with their CLSU counterpart led by Dr. Ernesto A. Martin, VP for University Business Affairs, together with the six Transnational Education Faculty Scholars from the university. They are Roanne P. Alberto, Zosimo G. Battad II, Oliver F. Celestino, Jayson J. Juan, Jessica M. Rustia and Fredelon B. Sison are enrolled as the pioneer batch of the PhD program.

Pres. Abella Attends Senate Plenary Hearing on FY 2026 SUC Budgets

University President Dr. Evaristo A. Abella joined fellow State Universities and Colleges (SUC) leaders during the Senate plenary deliberation on the proposed FY 2026 SUC expenditure program held on November 24, 2025, at the GSIS Building, Pasay City. Prior to the plenary session, Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Chair Dr. Shirley C. Agrupis, together with Commissioners Ricmar Aquino, Myrna Mallari, and Michelle Ong, met with SUC presidents to discuss the Commission’s priority initiatives, including research and development (R&D) programs aimed at strengthening production in the agriculture and aquatic sectors. Chair Agrupis also announced that the free higher education accumulated deficiency to SUCs is now set to be given. In addition, the allocation details for higher education institutions nationwide were presented and clarified. After more than two hours of deliberation, the budget for higher education institutions was approved at almost 140 billion pesos. Of the total proposed budget, CLSU is set to receive 1.2 billion pesos for FY 2026, placing it third among SUCs outside the National Capital Region with the highest budget allocation, next to Mindanao State University and Mariano Marcos State University. Also in attendance during the Senate plenary hearing were Ms. Jinky Parugrug, Financial Management Services Director, Ms. Clarissa Valeriano, Budget Office Chief, and Assoc. Prof. Maria Adrielle Estigoy, Presidential Management Services (PMS) Director, Mr. Roberto Miguel Sayco, and Mr. Florence Dave Asuncion, from the Office of the President and PMS, respectively.

CLSU Finishes 5th Place in CAASUC 2025

Central Luzon State University (CLSU) achieved a notable 5th place overall ranking for a total score of 79 points in the recently concluded Culture and the Arts Association of State Universities and Colleges (CAASUC) III Regional Culture and the Arts Festival (RCAF) held from November 23-26, 2025, at Pampanga State Agricultural University. CLSU Talent and Artistry Shine at CAASUC III

Student-artists from 13 participating universities in Central Luzon ignite the 2025 Culture and Arts Festival of State Universities and Colleges (CAASUC III) with their talent and passion. The event, held at Pampanga State Agricultural University (PSAU), commenced on November 22 and runs until November 26, 2025. The Cultural Affairs Office (CAO), headed by Dr. Florante Ibarra, led 162 dedicated student-artists across various disciplines, supported by a strong cohort of 31 coaches and trainers during the parade and opening program. Dr. Ibarra, expressing his deep gratitude to the university's representatives, delivered a compelling statement on the significance of the cultural program, stating: “Sa patimpalak na ito ipinamamalas ang kahusayan ng mga talentong hinulma’t hinubog sa loob ng ating pamantasan. Gayundin, itinatampok dito ang ’di matawarang dedikasyon ng mga mag-aaral at mga tagapagsanay sa kanilang paglalaan ng oras at yaman sa patuloy na paglinang ng kani-kanilang mga larangan. Sa suporta ng kasalukuyang administrasyon, mula sa bumubuo ng CAO, ang aming pasasalamat ay wagas at taos-puso. Pinapatunayan lamang nito na ang CLSU ay hindi lamang sentro ng agham at agrikultura, bagkus ay isa ring lunduyan ng sining at kultura.” The CAASUC III serves as the premier platform for State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) in Central Luzon to showcase talent, promote cultural preservation, and foster camaraderie. Aside from CLSU, other participating universities include Aurora State College of Technology (ASCOT), Bataan Peninsula State University (BPSU), Bulacan State University (BULSU), National Aviation Academy of the Philippines (NAAP), Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology (NEUST), Pampanga State Agricultural University (PSAU), Pampanga State University (PSU), Philippine Merchant Marine Academy (PMMA), President Ramon Magsaysay State University (PRMSU), Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU), and Tarlac State University (TSU). As of today, the CLSU delegation has successfully accumulated a total of 78 points, placing the university in a formidable second-place tie with NEUST. As the festival progresses, the entire CLSU community extends its full support and pride to its student-artists, who serve as the University's cultural ambassadors.
