FAC, CF Hold Workshop on In-pond Raceway Systems

The Central Luzon State University (CLSU), through the Freshwater Aquaculture Center (FAC) and College of Fisheries (CF), spearheaded a workshop about the In-pond Raceway Systems (IPRS) today, July 16, 2025, at the OVPAA Amphitheater. The workshop also collaborated with the U.S. Soybean Export Council (USSEC), which aims to provide an in-depth understanding of In-Pond Raceway Systems (IPRS) and their potential impact on local aquaculture. In her opening remarks, Dr. Ravelina R. Velasco, Vice President for Academic Affairs Program, conveyed her appreciation to the USSEC for their efforts in sharing their time and expertise for sustainable aquaculture. She also emphasized that the collaboration isn’t just about the academic initiatives, but also has greater benefits. “This collaboration between USSEC and CLSU through our Freshwater Aquaculture Center and the College of Fisheries is more than an academic initiative; it is a manifestation of the university’s ongoing mission to develop globally competitive, socially-responsible, and work-ready graduates, future leaders who are not only equipped with knowledge but also empowered to address global challenges,” Dr. Velasco said. Moreover, Dr. Ernesto J. Morales, Philippine Aquaculture Technical Manager of USSEC provided an overview of the USSEC and introduced the keynote speakers: Mr. Philip Sharples Kemp Jr., IPRS Consultant, Mr. Zhou Enhua, IPRS Lead, Mr. Hsiang Pin Lan, Marine Specialist, and Mr. Bui Ngoc Thanh, Vietnam Aquaculture Technical Manager. They shared their knowledge and experiences in In-pond Raceway Systems. Gracing the events are key officials of the university including Dr. Emmanuel M. Vera Cruz, Vice President for Research and Extension, and Dr. Tereso A. Abella, CLSU's Former President and Professor Emeritus at the CF. Over 120 participants from government agencies, private sectors, CLSU Faculty, Staff, and students attended in person, with additional students joining via Zoom.

CLSU Receives Outstanding eNGAS and eBudget System User Entity Award

Central Luzon State University (CLSU), through its Financial Management Services led by Dir. Jinky Parugrug, has been honored with the "Outstanding eNGAS and eBudget System User Entity" Award for the second consecutive time. The recognition was conferred during the Government Financial Management Innovations Circle, Inc.'s (GFMIC) 16th Annual National Convention, held on September 25, 2025, in Tagbilaran, Bohol. This accolade underscores CLSU's exemplary utilization of the Electronic New Government Accounting System (eNGAS). The eNGAS is a critical software solution designed to modernize government accounting, ensuring all financial transactions are processed with accuracy, reliability, completeness, and timeliness. CLSU stands out among academic institutions, being one of only three universities nationwide, alongside Tarlac State University and Bukidnon State University, to receive this distinction. Other awardees were drawn from National Government Agencies and Local Government Units (LGUs). The award was formally accepted by Mr. John Mark Tangonan, head of the Accounting Office, together with staff from both the Accounting and Budget Office. This achievement serves as a significant affirmation of CLSU's strong commitment to digitalization and its dedication to maintaining the highest standards of accuracy in financial reporting.

RIDe Fest 2025: Groundwork to Greatness of Innovation Impact

The Research, Innovation, and Development Festival (RIDe Fest) is an annual event that highlights the university's discoveries, knowledge, and impact in the community. This year’s festival began with the official Opening Program and the ceremonial inauguration of the Innovation and Extension Exhibit, setting a celebratory tone. This was followed by the rigorous 37th Annual In-House Review of Completed and Ongoing R&D Projects and the Research Poster Showcase. To conclude the first day of the festival, a Knowledge-Sharing Session on "Communicating Science Effectively through Social Media” with Content Creator and UPLB Asst. Prof. Ethan Hernandez was held, and attended by over 200 students, faculty members, and science communicators from nearby agencies. Day two fused community spirit with academic pursuits. The early morning Community Parade was followed by events that highlighted the talents, humor, and research-oriented mindset of the CLSU community, including the competitive RIDe Fest Quest and an enthusiastic Cook-off. Furthermore, research and innovation were amplified through the Student Researchers' Day, the continuation of the In-House Review, and an insightful Plenary Session: International Spotlight, featuring crucial updates on the Banana and Cacao Disease Management Project. The excitement continues with the highly anticipated Innovation Pitch Off and the Sustainability Summit, alongside the final day of the exhibit.
