ICCEM, LDRRMO conduct Seminars on Climate Change and Training on Basic Life Support

The Institute for Climate Change and Environmental Management (ICCEM) in partnership with the Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (LDRRMO) of the Science City of Muñoz conducted a seminar on climate change and training on basic life support to the faculty members, staff, and students of the Department of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering (DABE), College of Engineering, and Department of Psychology, College of Arts and Social Sciences (CASS) on June 09, 2023, at the FPJ Development Communication Hall. Dr. Gella Patria L. Abella, Head of ICCEM, Dr. Shirly C. Serrano, Co-commander of UDRRMC, and Prof. Roberto D. Pelayo, Extension and Environmental Education Division Sub-Unit Head of ICCEM led the event that aimed to provide important views on the critical issue of climate change and to equip the faculty and students with the fundamental knowledge, abilities, and attitude needed to confidently carry out basic life-saving procedures. Engr. Lea Caguiat, Instructor of ICCEM, shared an overview and evidences of climate change in the Philippines, greenhouse gases, the greenhouse effect, and the causes of climate change. She also discussed climate change mitigation and adaptation to capacitate the participants with several climate action initiatives. Meanwhile, Engr. Randy G. Baldedara, Officer-in-Charge of Local Disaster Risk Reduction Management, shared his knowledge and expertise on Basic Life Support as part of disaster preparedness and mitigation. He emphasized that the victim’s survival depends on understanding how to deliver first aid precisely and as quickly as possible. The LDRRMO team also provided detailed first aid training on common disaster-related wounds such as wounds on the top of the head, wounds on the chest or back, burned head or foot, and burned face. The partnership between ICCEM and LDRRMO underscores the importance of collaboration and cooperation in promoting disaster preparedness and resilience in the community.

CLSU Receives Outstanding eNGAS and eBudget System User Entity Award

Central Luzon State University (CLSU), through its Financial Management Services led by Dir. Jinky Parugrug, has been honored with the "Outstanding eNGAS and eBudget System User Entity" Award for the second consecutive time. The recognition was conferred during the Government Financial Management Innovations Circle, Inc.'s (GFMIC) 16th Annual National Convention, held on September 25, 2025, in Tagbilaran, Bohol. This accolade underscores CLSU's exemplary utilization of the Electronic New Government Accounting System (eNGAS). The eNGAS is a critical software solution designed to modernize government accounting, ensuring all financial transactions are processed with accuracy, reliability, completeness, and timeliness. CLSU stands out among academic institutions, being one of only three universities nationwide, alongside Tarlac State University and Bukidnon State University, to receive this distinction. Other awardees were drawn from National Government Agencies and Local Government Units (LGUs). The award was formally accepted by Mr. John Mark Tangonan, head of the Accounting Office, together with staff from both the Accounting and Budget Office. This achievement serves as a significant affirmation of CLSU's strong commitment to digitalization and its dedication to maintaining the highest standards of accuracy in financial reporting.

RIDe Fest 2025: Groundwork to Greatness of Innovation Impact

The Research, Innovation, and Development Festival (RIDe Fest) is an annual event that highlights the university's discoveries, knowledge, and impact in the community. This year’s festival began with the official Opening Program and the ceremonial inauguration of the Innovation and Extension Exhibit, setting a celebratory tone. This was followed by the rigorous 37th Annual In-House Review of Completed and Ongoing R&D Projects and the Research Poster Showcase. To conclude the first day of the festival, a Knowledge-Sharing Session on "Communicating Science Effectively through Social Media” with Content Creator and UPLB Asst. Prof. Ethan Hernandez was held, and attended by over 200 students, faculty members, and science communicators from nearby agencies. Day two fused community spirit with academic pursuits. The early morning Community Parade was followed by events that highlighted the talents, humor, and research-oriented mindset of the CLSU community, including the competitive RIDe Fest Quest and an enthusiastic Cook-off. Furthermore, research and innovation were amplified through the Student Researchers' Day, the continuation of the In-House Review, and an insightful Plenary Session: International Spotlight, featuring crucial updates on the Banana and Cacao Disease Management Project. The excitement continues with the highly anticipated Innovation Pitch Off and the Sustainability Summit, alongside the final day of the exhibit.
