LAUNCHING PROGRAM: 110TH FOUNDATION ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION

Dr. Tereso A. Abella, president of Central Luzon State University leads the university officials as he ignites the torch marking the start of the 110th founding anniversary celebration this April 17.    This year’s celebration is filled with exciting activities while it gives another meaning of CLSU. Dr. Abella quoted that in the past, “CLSU is known as the Center of Love, Solidarity and Unity. For our visitors, we say CLSU - Come Look and See Us.” And now, with a pride, Dr. Abella gratefully congratulated the people who coined CLSU as Culture of Academic Excellence, Leadership in Agricultural S & T Research, Serving Humanity with Excellence and University for Inclusive Development. Delighted with the presence of a huge number of attendees, Dr. Abella added, “We should be thankful because everyday is a gift of life from the Great Architect of the Universe, our Almighty. We are lucky and enjoying to breathe fresh and clean air, because we have Acacia trees. Aside from providing us oxygen, these trees are living witnesses to the university’s developments and historical events. “We have to extend our gratitude to the great men and women who came before us,” he also said. With our theme, 110 years of Keeping the Torch Ablaze: A Tribute to the CLSU Community, he emphasized, “This is giving tribute or giving recognition to all the members of the CLSU family, the stakeholders both local and national as well as international”. He fervently encouraged his fellow government employees and students to be an instrument in attaining the mission and goals of CLSU aligned with our university’s philosophy that the measure of the effectiveness of a higher education institutions is to look at its contribution to and impact on the education, economic, social, cultural, political and moral well-being and environmental consciousness of the peoples it serves. The faculty, staff and students celebrating the CLSU 110th Founding Anniversary.   To fully internalize the celebration with enjoyment by the CLSU community, he also declared a week-long suspension of classes from collegiate to senior high school level, however the students are required to witness and involve themselves in the celebration activities. In conclusion, Pres. Abella said, “I convey my felicitations to all of us and our beloved Central Luzon State University for another milestone that revitalizes our history. As we uphold CLSU as a torch that shares light and hope to the present and future generation, let us further strive, succeed, and remain grounded in our roots. Mabuhay ang CLSU!  Patnubayan tayo ng Poong Maykapal.”

CLSU Equips OFW families in Nueva Ecija with Skills on Organic Farming

Families of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) in Nueva Ecija took a meaningful step toward sustainable living and entrepreneurial growth by participating in a two-day training on organic farming, hosted by Central Luzon State University (CLSU) on December 6-7, 2024. The event, titled “Embracing the OFW Entrepreneurial Spirit,” equipped participants with practical knowledge in organic agriculture while nurturing an entrepreneurial mindset. A joint effort of Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) Region 3 and CLSU’s Holistic OFW Program for Empowerment (HOPE), the training opened with an inspiring call to action from Prof. Janet O. Saturno, HOPE Project Leader, encouraging attendees to actively immerse themselves in the learning sessions. Day one featured expert-led lectures designed to build foundational skills: Dr. Carolyn P. Gonzales-Marzan shared financial planning strategies tailored to entrepreneurial ventures; Dr. Irene G. Bustos focused on fostering a positive entrepreneurial mindset; Mr. Sherwin B. Celestino motivated participants to adopt a business-oriented perspective; Mr. Ronn Adam V. Pontoy and Ms. Ellen S. Romero introduced the essentials of organic farming, emphasizing sustainable vegetable production and composting techniques. On the second day, participants engaged in hands-on activities, transitioning theory into practice. Guided demonstrations provided them with real-world experience in organic farming processes, ensuring a deeper understanding of the methods taught. Simultaneously, the Center for Tropical Mushroom Research and Development hosted the second batch of its Intensive Training on Mushroom and Spawn Production (Mushroom Pharming). This parallel initiative further enhanced the livelihood options available to OFW families. This collaborative effort reflects the shared vision of OWWA Region 3 and CLSU to empower OFW families through sustainable and entrepreneurial opportunities. By building economic resilience and promoting sustainable agriculture, the partnership continues to strengthen the capacities of OFW communities to thrive.

CBA Achieves 56% Passing Rate in LECPA 2024 with First-Time Takers Posting an Impressive 72%

The College of Business and Accountancy (CBA) celebrates a remarkable milestone as 28 of its graduates successfully passed the December 2024 Licensure Examination for Certified Public Accountants (LECPA). This achievement resulted in an outstanding institutional passing rate of 56.00%, surpassing the national passing rate by an impressive 25.83%. Notably, 21 first-time takers achieved an impressive passing rate of 72.41%, while seven re-examiners posted a passing rate of 33.33% in the December 2024 LECPA. The University, along with the entire CBA faculty, takes great pride in these achievements. Furthermore, to those who did not achieve passing results this time, we commend your hard work and dedication. This is not the end of the road—stay determined and keep striving toward your goals. CLSU is a Recipient of the 2024 ICONS Awards

Central Luzon State University (CLSU) has once again been recognized for its exemplary internationalization efforts, receiving the prestigious Internationalization (IZN) Champions of Nation-Building and Sustainability (ICONS) Awards 2024. The award, organized by the Commission on Higher Education-International Affairs Service (CHED-IAS), was presented today, December 16, 2024, at the Philippine International Convention Center in Pasay City. Representing CLSU, Dr. Parsons N. Hail, Director of the International Affairs Office, accepted the award on behalf of University President Evaristo A. Abella. The recognition highlights CLSU as one of the country’s leading Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) with international rankings, as evidenced by its achievements in the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings, Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings (Reporter Status), THE Impact Rankings, and the World University Rankings for Innovation (WURI). President Abella expressed his heartfelt gratitude to CHED-IAS for acknowledging CLSU’s leadership in internationalization among Philippine HEIs. He commended the dedication and hard work of the university’s faculty, non-teaching staff, students, alumni, farmer-partners, and other stakeholders who contributed to this milestone. He emphasized that these accomplishments reflect CLSU’s commitment to aligning its academic, research, and community programs with global standards to promote sustainable development and nation-building. CLSU remains steadfast in advancing global initiatives through its integrated efforts in academics, research, and community engagement.
