Rev. Fr. Richard Lagos Inspires Graduates to Embrace Courage, Faith, and Resilience for a Purposeful Future

Rev. Fr. Richard P. Lagos, OP, MA, EMAS, a Diocesan Priest from the Roman Catholic Diocese of San Jose, Nueva Ecija, delivered a powerful and inspiring message, urging graduating students to navigate their futures with courage, unwavering faith, and steadfast resilience during the Ecumenical Baccalaureate Service. Fr. Lagos commenced his address by sharing a personal narrative rooted in courage, illustrating how stepping outside one's comfort zone, though daunting, paves the way for new opportunities. He underscored that courage is not the absence of fear, but rather the decision to move forward despite it, a sentiment that resonated deeply with the graduating class as they embark on their new journey. He then seamlessly transitioned to the profound meaning of faith, emphasizing its connection with courage. Fr. Lagos further conveyed that true courage is bolstered by faith in God and self, asserting that every experience, even challenges, serves a greater purpose. Finally, he addressed the critical virtue of resilience, reminding the graduates to persistently strive, even in the face of setbacks. He highlighted that resilience is a mighty force inherent within each individual, empowering them to continue striving for their goals. Before concluding his speech, Fr. Lagos posed a poignant question to the graduates: What kind of future will they build? He powerfully summarized his vision for their generation, stating, “The world doesn’t just need graduates. It needs healers, bridge-builders, innovators with compassion, leaders with character, and doers with hope.” His inspiring message culminated in a heartfelt prayer for all members of the graduating class.

TESO Continues CAT Promotion Through Pencil Donation Drive

Passed from the hands of hopeful dreamers to the hands of young learners, the Testing and Evaluation Services Office (TESO) continues its promotion of the CLSU Admission Test (CAT) while extending support to the primary learners of the DepEd-CLSU Elementary Laboratory School through a Pencil Donation Drive themed “Ang Lapis Mo, Ang Susulat sa mga Pangarap Ko” on September 28, 2026. University President Dr. Evaristo A. Abella led the distribution of 1,300 pencils to 600 pupils, alongside Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Ravelina R. Velasco, Head of the Testing and Evaluation Center Dr. Elmer D. Dela Rosa, and School Principal Jocelyn De Guzman. The Pencil Donation Drive forms part of the CAT promotion campaign and was made possible through the contributions of examinees who took the previous CAT.

CLSU, Soroptimist International Launch ATE GOES AGRI Scholarship for Female Agriculture Students

Central Luzon State University (CLSU), through its Office of Student Affairs (OSA), officially inked a Memorandum of Agreement with Soroptimist International of Metro Manila Northwest District to establish the ATE GOES AGRI Scholarship Program: Advancing Growth, Resilience, and Inclusion through Education. The MOA signing was led by University President Dr. Evaristo A. Abella, Dr. OSA Dean Irene G. Bustos, and District Director Ms. Jennifer Joan Bayot. The event was witnessed by Ms. Josephine D. Cariño. The educational assistance program empowers financially disadvantaged young women pursuing agriculture degrees by building their technical and leadership skills to prepare them for careers in sustainable agriculture, food security, and community development. This partnership will benefit five qualified female students from the CLSU College of Agriculture who demonstrate financial need. Each scholar will receive a PHP20,000 stipend for the academic year. The CLSU-OSA will facilitate the program's implementation, tasked with screening applicants, verifying academic status, monitoring scholars, and managing progress reports. This new partnership underscores a shared commitment to breaking financial barriers for women in agriculture, equipping the next generation of female leaders to drive innovation in their communities.

Central Luzon State University (CLSU) has once again sustained its Reporter status in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings following a comprehensive evaluation of its institutional performance. This ranking framework assessed the university across fundamental areas, including teaching environment, research environment, research quality, industry engagement, and international outlook. Marking its fourth consecutive year of inclusion in THE-WUR, CLSU remains committed to achieving a ranked position by strengthening its research output, expanding scholarly publications, and enhancing global academic collaborations.
