May. 26, 2022

Ma. Conception O. De Vera | SCO

Around 158 officials from the 37 barangays of Science City of Muñoz (SCM) attended the training on Barangay Management Information System (BMIS) held on April 6 and 27, 2022 at the PNP Multipurpose Gym, Brgy. Catalanacan. The training capacitated the BMIS team to lead the implementation of the BMIS activities in the community where they will be able to operate and update the new software and spot map and set up the BMIS in the barangay. Moreover, it was part of the BIDANI program’s goal to empower the local leaders in developing and implementing integrated development programs to achieve good governance, poverty alleviation, food security, health and nutrition improvement, and general well-being of the people. Included in the two-part training were a series of lectures and group activities with barangay officials and secretaries, barangay health workers, barangay nutrition scholars, Sangguniang Kabataan Chair, and Councilors as participants. Resource persons and facilitators were from Central Luzon State University-University Extension Center (CLSU-UEC) and City Technical Action Committee-Science City of Muñoz (CTAC-SCM). The participants were very grateful for the training as it will help them facilitate the establishment of their barangay databases and the generation of barangay and nutrition profiles.  “Maganda po na mapag aralan muli ang BMIS dahil malaking tulong ito na maiayos yung mga impormasyon namin sa barangay,” said Ms. Melinda Litorco, Brgy. Bantug Secretary during the training. Mr. Crismelito R. Catacutan, Local Government Operations Officer IV of the Science City of Muñoz, expressed his support and appreciation for the project. He said that BMIS is the solution for having an accurate and efficient generation of barangay reports. BMIS software was designed to provide the LGUs with minimum data needs on socio-economic, health, nutrition, environment, and agriculture. It facilitates the identification of household and barangay needs for nutrition and development planning as well as project implementation, monitoring, and evaluation.
