The State Colleges and Universities Faculty Association of Region III (SCUFAR 3) Sports and Cultural Event officially opened today, August 20, at the Pampanga State Agricultural University (PSAU), Magalang, Pampanga.
To show camaraderie and embrace the spirit of sportsmanship, the Central Luzon State University (CLSU) sent more than 300 delegates. With the theme ?Unity in Diversity,? the program kicked off with a parade of colors, showcasing the diverse array of 13 participating State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) from all over Region III.
The program was graced with a welcome greeting from Dr. Divina C. Ladrillo, SCUFAR III President, and Dr. Anita G. David, PSAU President, where they underscored the support and collaboration from the local government and the different colleges and universities.
Moreover, Dr. Chester Alexis C. Buama, PAFRT delivered a short message highlighting the importance of coming together as one and fostering friendship among SUCs. , Dr. Zosimo M. Battad, University of the East President, delivered an inspiring message, emphasizing the significance of unity, sportsmanship, and camaraderie among individuals inside the academic institutions.
?May this [event] make you a better employee and better faculty member in your respective institutions even after this sports and cultural festival,? President Battad said.
He also reminded that this event is about more than just a competition, as it is a chance to make new friends and celebrate the diverse talents in our academic community just like any other sport.
?When we work together with a common goal and a spirit of camaraderie, we can achieve great things,? he concluded.
Displaying the dedication and the hard work of the athletes, banners from the different Universities were hoisted by their respective representative candidates for Mr. and Ms. SCUFAR including CLSU with Dr. Evaristo A. Abella, University President and Dr. Roy Searca Jose P. Dela Cruz, Faculty Representative.
It was then followed by the lighting of the unity flame headed by Mr. Arvin B. Estoque, Champion, ASCU-SN 2024 Photography signifying the commencement of sports and cultural festivals.
The Oath of Sportsmanship was led by Mr. Rogelio G. Isip, Champion of ASCU-SN Badminton Singles and SCUFAR 3 2023 Badminton Singles, emphasizing the spirit of fair play and sportsmanship that defines SCUFAR III. Concluding the program, the host institutions headed by PSAU Zumba Team organized a Zumba Session to further elevate the spirit and enthusiasm of the athletes.
The opening ceremony for SCUFAR III 2024 has brought to light the diverse range of skills, cultures, and goals that come together in the spirit of friendly competition and academic brilliance.
