More than 200 faculty members of Central Luzon State University (CLSU) joined the communal walk today, January 24, an event organized by the Faculty Association Incorporated (FAI) to show solidarity in pursuing greatness for the university through championing teachers’ holistic well-being with positivity. With the theme “Envisioning future greatness: Championing positivity and holistic well-being of the Academe in the post-pandemic,” the unity walk commenced from the Maingate at 7 a.m. and culminated at the Mikki Violago Friendship Hall where a short program was held. To set the tone, Dr. Renato G. Reyes, Vice President for Academic Affairs cheered the group when he mentioned that “We are here today because we are survivors of COVID-19, and we are here because we have our full hope for the University.” VP Reyes also reminded the faculty to be prepared in the coming week for the opening of full face-to-face classes. “COVID-19 is still here because it's biological, but this should not stop us from facing new challenges,” VP Reyes added. Meanwhile, in his message, Dr. Edgar A. Orden, University President, said that the event is truly an indication of unity, and he further emphasized that he will continue to give his support to the faculty likewise, to well-crafted activities and events of FAI. In relation to the theme, President Orden stressed that “if we want to achieve greatness for our university, we should not just walk or run but (we have) to fly.” On the other hand, Mayor Armi L. Alvarez of the Science City of Munoz and former Congresswoman for Nueva Ecija District 2 Michaela Violago graced the said event. Mayor Alvarez shared her thoughts on the importance of good health and well-being. “A healthy lifestyle is the highest blessing we should not take for granted,” she said. To give inspiration, former Congresswoman Violago said that she has high regard for CLSU because of the “great people (professors) working for and behind the great institution.” As an encouragement, she said to “not only be great just for ourselves but for everyone around dahil kung masaya ako, dapat masaya rin ang kapitbahay ko.” Moreover, she ended her message with words “Greatness cannot be done overnight, it can only be done with patience and perseverance. Kaya magtulungan tayo na mapabuti ang ating mahal na CLSU gayundin ang ating lalawigan.” As a closing message, Prof. Randolf Warren Gregorio Mayo, FAI President finished with a strong statement. He said that “Empowered, energized, and inspired personnel are people we want in the academe.” “A positive mindset of faculty members from a very nurturing CLSU and benevolent benefactors are what this activity highlights,” he added.   The event wrapped up with a photo opportunity of the FAI members together with the university executives and guests.
