CVSM Bags 2 Championships, Dominates Podium Finishes at 22nd NCVMS

The Central Luzon State University (CLSU), through the College of Veterinary Science and Medicine (CVSM), hauled two championship titles and multiple podium finishes at the 22nd National Congress of Veterinary Medicine Students (NCVMS). Hosted by Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU), the congress was held from February 2 to 7, 2026, at the Al Amir Farm and Resort. The event gathered delegates from 16 universities across the country under the theme, "Pinagkaysa iti Propesyon ken Panagserbi: Advancing a United, Equitable, and Inclusive Veterinary Future." Leading the charge for the CLSU delegation was the team of Anne Muncal, Allen Dave Serrano, and Lucky Marc Abrigos, who clinched the Championship title in the highly competitive MicroParaPh Quiz Bee. The team was mentored by coaches Dr. Michelle Tumali and Dr. Marvin Bryan Salinas. CVSM also demonstrated its artistic prowess with Therence Arth Punzalan bagging the Championship in the Poster Making Contest, guided by coach Dr. Aza Lea Anne Barbosa. The university’s winning streak continued across other major categories, securing three 2nd Runner-Up finishes. In the AnaPhyPharma Quiz Bee, the team of Allen Dave Serrano, Renato Alombro Jr., and Pauline Tracy Padolina secured the bronze spot under the supervision of Dr. Marielle Esporna and Dr. Marvin Bryan Salinas. Cristan Reyes and Hinario Corales also placed 2nd Runner-Up in the Case Study Presentation, coached by Dr. Lygene Harmony Culimay and Dr. April Surio. Meanwhile, Asia Frando took home the 2nd Runner-Up award in Photojournalism, coached by Dr. Marielle Esporna. Other notable participants included Kachina Elle Atay for the Essay Writing Contest, coached by Dr. Joseph Adrian Dela Cruz, and Abraham Fulgar for the "A Week in the Life of a VetMed Student" segment. Beyond the competitions, CLSU students were recognized for their leadership, Abraham Fulgar was elected as the Vice President for the Luzon Region for the upcoming 23rd NCVMS and stood out during the congress’s social events, earning the title "Star of the Night" during the Socialization Night. Rounding out the delegation’s involvement, Anjuli Isobel Lorilla served as the 22nd NCVMS Auditor. The delegation was supported by the person-in-charge and VSG adviser, Dr. Ren Lenard Valdez. The strong performance of the CVSM delegation highlights the university's commitment to producing well-rounded veterinary students capable of excelling on the national stage. #SievingForExcellence

CLSU Hosts its First-ever Alumni Night

Central Luzon State University (CLSU) capped off its Grand Alumni Homecoming Week with the university’s first-ever Alumni Night on February 7, 2026, held at the FPJ Communication Hall. The event was graced by prominent university figures and local leaders, including Dr. Danilo S. Vargas, President of CLSUAAI; Dr. Fiorello L. Abenes, President of CLSU International Alumni Association Inc.; Dr. Romeo V. Labios, Representative of the CLSU Society of COCOFED Grantees; and Hon. Baby Armi L. Alvarez, Mayor of the Science City of Muñoz. Highlighting the university’s artistic excellence, the evening featured performances by CLSU Maestro, Tanghalang Gagalaw, and the CLSU Bithay Sining Dance Company. OSA Dean Completes Student Affairs and Services Specialist Course

In her commitment to lifelong learning, Dr. Irene G. Bustos, Dean of the Office of Student Affairs (OSA), has successfully earned her Certificate in Student Affairs and Services (SAS) Specialist Course. The 78-hour hybrid program integrates online modules with intensive in-person workshops. The course also served as a premier professional development initiative, sharpening the competencies of student affairs practitioners through intensive discussions, workshops, and applied learning activities. This professional development program, offered by the University of Santo Tomas (UST) Center for Continuing Professional Education in partnership with the Philippine Association of Practitioners of Student Affairs and Services Inc. (PAPSAS), aimed to address contemporary challenges, emerging trends, and best practices in the field.

CLSU Holds Stakeholders’ Consultation for 2027 Budget Proposal

To ensure that the CLSU financial plan is transparent, accurate, and aligns priorities with institutional goals, the Office of the Vice President for Administration, Dr. Ariel G. Mactal, in coordination with the Financial Management Services Office, headed by Dir. Jinky A. Parugrug held a Stakeholders’ Consultation Meeting on February 05, 2026, in the Old Administration Conference Room. The consultation focused on gathering diverse inputs to strengthen CLSU’s core initiatives. Key priority areas for the 2027 fiscal year include Free Higher Education, Internationalization, Accreditation, IT modernization, facility repairs, vehicle refurbishment, extension projects, and climate change initiatives. University President Dr. Evaristo A. Abella, alongside the Vice Presidents and Administrative Council, engaged directly with sector representatives to ensure the budget reflects the actual needs of the community. Key stakeholders include Ms. Aljone V. Viterbo, USSC Chairperson, Dr. Virgilio Viernes, CLUTCHES President, Mr. Ryan Esteban, ASEA President, Dr. Danilo Vargas, CLSUAAI President, and Dr. Michael Mabalay, PGTA Representative.
