Marking the 119th founding anniversary of Central Luzon State University (CLSU), University President Dr. Evaristo A. Abella successfully delivered a powerful State of the University Address (SUA) anchored on the theme “Liwanag at Lakas: CLSU sa Pagsulong ng Maginhawang Bukas” during the Special Joint Session of the Program Councils held at the University Auditorium on April 16, 2026. Speaking before the Board of Regents, employees, students, alumni, and partners, Dr. Abella shared a comprehensive narrative of the university’s journey - a transition from addressing "institutional pains" to celebrating global "podium finishes” using his own version of 4Ps. The first “P” stands for Pains (Mga Hamon at Katotohanan). President Abella began his address openly, acknowledging the structural and systemic challenges the university has encountered, including limitations within the learning environment, excessive workloads, and mental health concerns. He emphasized that these issues are not just institutional flaws or mere statistics; they are human stories. "We do not hide these challenges; we accept them as reminders of what we can and must change,” he stated. The second “P” signifies Progress (Mga Pagbabago). To heal these "pains," the administration implemented the E-TREATMENTS framework, which has yielded significant results across all areas of university operations. This progress is especially evident in student welfare, infrastructure improvements, benefits and privileges for employees, research, partnerships, international mobility, and transparent governance. The third “P” is Podium (Mga Tagumpay). President Abella recognized faculty and staff who received distinguished awards and commended outstanding students for their achievements in research, poster presentations, journalism, quiz bee, sports, and national cultural contests. Likewise, he highlighted institutional recognitions and global rankings. “Ang mga pagkilalang ito ay hindi lamang mga parangal; ito ay malinaw na patunay ng ating sama-samang dedikasyon sa kalidad, integridad, at patuloy na pag-unlad bilang isang pamantasan,” said President Abella. The final “P” is Pursuits (Mga Susunod na Hakbang at Pangarap). Looking to the future, President Abella reaffirmed the university's goal of becoming a Premier Education Economic Zone by 2030. “We will continue to listen. We will continue to act. And we will continue to transform,” said President Abella. To conclude his speech, President Abella expressed heartfelt appreciation for everyone who contributed significantly to the success of the University particularly the employees, students, industry partners, alumni, and the Board of Regents, and called for continued unity to build a sustainable and inclusive future for all CLSU stakeholders. #CLSULiwanagatLakas #SievingForExcellence
