4 CLSU-COS Faculty Participate in Nuclear Science CAMP

Four faculty members from the College of Science (COS) participated in the Nuclear Science CAMP (Capacitating and Mentoring Program) organized by the Department of Science and Technology - Science Education Institute (DOST-SEI) scheduled from August 5-8, 2024, at Estancia De Lorenzo, San Mateo, Rizal. The program was attended by 67 trainers of DOST-SEI STAR (Science Teacher Academy for the Region) from across the nation and will feature lectures, workshops, and site visits to the Philippine Nuclear Research Institute (PNRI) and Bataan Nuclear Power Plant to educate them with the essential principles of nuclear science and their practical applications in everyday life. Among the 17 participating regions, Region III participants include Dr. Aiisa C. Corpuz from the Department of Education along with Dr. Eden S. David, Assoc. Prof. Richard P. Tagle, Dr. Luzviminda S. Quitos, and Dr. Ma. Elizabeth DC. Leoveras who represented CLSU being one of the partners of DOST in the country.

Retooling Seminar for QMS Internal Auditors

The Quality Management System (QMS) Core Unit led the retooling seminar for CLSU internal quality auditors to revisit and align the auditing practices and strategies of the university to the instruments of the different accrediting bodies like the Philippine Quality Award (PQA) and the ASEAN University Network - Quality Assurance (AUN-QA), among others. During the seminar, Dr. Ravelina R. Velasco, VP for Academic Affairs emphasized the importance of the activity in continuously improving the effectiveness of the QMS of the university, while Dr. Joan C. Ravago, Head, QMS Core Unit, served as the resource speaker along with Dr. Angelita V. Seeping, Dr. Cesar V. Ortinero, and Dr. Cheryl G. Ramos, Director, Administrative Services Office.

CAg Students Clinch Best Presenter and Most Active Participant Awards in Indonesia

Two third-year agriculture students majoring in animal science, Ray Allen De Guzman and Danica Grace Claudio, were recognized as Best Presenter and Most Active Participant, respectively, at the 8th Summer Course Program held at Universitas Gadjah Mada in Indonesia from July 21, 2024 to August 03, 2024. With the theme "Harmony in Animal and Agricultural Production for Global Food Security,” was attended both on-site and online by 25 representatives from Malaysia, South Korea, Pakistan, India, Cambodia, and the Philippines. It was hosted by the Universitas Gadjah Mada Faculty of Animal Science and supported by the ASEAN Agriculture University Network and Southeast Asia Network of Animal Science. The program offered an immersive learning experience designed to provide participants with comprehensive knowledge and practical skills in agriculture and animal sciences. It covered a wide range of topics essential for success in the agricultural industry which featured expert-led sessions, hands-on activities, networking opportunities, and certificate of completion.
