AFTBI Hosts Technology Pitching in celebration of RIDe Fest 2023

The Central Luzon State University (CLSU), through the Agriculture and Food Technology Business Incubator (AFTBI) hosted the Technology Pitching for the commercialization effort of the university on food and non-food technologies and products as part of the Research Innovation and Development (RIDe) Festival 2023 with the theme “R4D: Key to a Sustainable Society” on October 11, 2023, held at the Academic Affairs Amphitheater, CLSU. Dr. Ariel G. Mactal, Vice President for Business Affairs, expressed his warm welcome to the participants as he stated the pitching’s purpose which is the transition of technologies and products of the CLSU faculty-researchers developed from research, laboratory to the market place to generate more income and be sustainable for the future generation. “We offer you the eight food and five non-food products and we are now pitching the ball for you to catch so that we as a team will win the game towards a very fruitful and successful business journey for the future generation,” VP Mactal stressed. Meanwhile, in his inspirational message, Dr. Melvin B. Carlos, Department of Science and Technology-Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Resources Research and Development (DOST-PCAARRD) Deputy Executive Director for Administration, Resource Management and Support Services, shared that technology pitching is an avenue for researchers to meet potential investors to adopt and communicate the industry needs. He also encouraged the ‘pitchers’ to seize the moment as they present their technologies and products. The presentation covered topics on issues and challenges, technology background, and business plan, among others. The presenters for food cluster include: Ms. Kathlene Claire O. Ganareal for Mushroom Seasoning Flakes and Mushroom Snack Chips; Ms. Charlene Hade S. Cabral for Non-Dairy Frozen Desert; Ms. Geraldine G. Tayag for Rice Raisin Oatmeal Cookies and Instant Organic Aromatic Rice Chicken Porridge; Ms. Venus Q. Lagmay for Vacuum Fried Squash Chips; Ms. Alliah Samantha P. Sugue for Spicy Tilading; and Dr. Judith P. Antonio for Vitapeel Gummies. Moreover, the presenters for non-food clusters include: Dr. Karl Marx A. Quiazon for Aerokit: Tilapia Disease Test Kit; Ms. Ellen Romero for Bio-Cares Fish Amino Acid or the Fish Amino Acid as Organic Liquid Supplement for Crops; Ms. Jonalyn J. Noveno for Biosensors for Rice and Onion Diseases or BLAST biosensor; Dr. Ronalie B. Rafael for Pro & Pre-Biotic from Onion Waste; and Ms. Candace Anne Rabang for ASF Nanogold Biosensor Test Kit. Different concerns such as technology transfer, licensing, Halal approval, start-up grant fund, and spin off were raised and answered by Mr. Noel Catibog, DOST-PCAARRD TTPD head, Dr. Pablo J. Rafael Jr, AFTBI Program Leader, and other staff from DOST-PCAARRD. Furthermore, Dr. Richard V. Simangan, Provincial Director of Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) expressed his warm congratulations to the CLSU faculty-researchers and wished the best for the adaptation of their technologies and products by the community. The technology pitching was attended by more than 200 participants from private companies, government agencies, and offices within the University.

DAP Introduces BAGANI Program to CLSU Young Leaders

To inspire a passion for transformative leadership and promote the principles of good governance among the students and young faculty of Central Luzon State University (CLSU), the Development Academy of the Philippines (DAP) launched the “BAGANI: Rising Leaders Development Program” today, March 6, at the RIE Amphitheater. The program aims to equip emerging leaders with the skills, vision, and mindset needed to drive positive change in their communities and beyond. During the event, DAP Project Officer Ellinoar Santos, emphasized the crucial role of the youth in shaping the nation's future. "We developed this program para sa mga young leaders. Kasi, you are the agents of today, you will change the system, and you are the leaders of tomorrow,” she shared. Mark Sambajon, BAGANI program communication specialist, echoed this sentiment, "We acknowledge that young people now are rising in their own communities, making these changes themselves. So, the academy wants to complement that and turn that energy into something transformative in the public sector." The DAP delegation was led by Mr. June Arvin Gudoy, Vice President for Corporate Affairs, who facilitated an engaging Q&A session on students’ roles in public service. Wrapping up the successful event, Dr. Irene G. Bustos, Office of the Student Affairs Dean, delivered the closing remarks, leaving the attendees with a powerful and timeless reminder from Mahatma Gandhi: “If you want to see the change in the world, be the change.” Before the information session, the DAP delegates paid a courtesy call to University President Dr. Evaristo A. Abella, where they formally presented the program. OSA kicks off Guidance Awareness Month 2026

The Office of Student Affairs (OSA), led by its dean, Dr. Irene G. Bustos, officially launched the Guidance Awareness Month Celebration today, with a motorcade and an opening program centered on the theme, "WE (Women and Everyone) for Mental Health, Gender Equality, and Inclusive Society." Following a campus parade, the kickoff activities culminated in the OSA hallway. Dr. Bustos, delivered a welcome remark, urging the students to participate in the upcoming initiatives prepared for them actively. Meanwhile, Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Ravelina R. Velasco, conveyed an inspirational message emphasizing the impact of student support. "Guidance is transformation through understanding. It is empowerment through listening. It is hope made visible through support," she shared. She further reminded the community that this month is about more than just events—it is a renewal of the university’s commitment to listen with compassion and guide with wisdom. "Because when one student finds direction," she shared, "the future finds new possibilities." CLSU, DBM Region III Convene for FDU Meeting

To ensure efficient budget utilization, the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) Region III conducted a Full-Time Delivery Unit (FDU) meeting at the Central Luzon State University (CLSU) New Administration Conference Room on February 26, 2026. The meeting served as an avenue to evaluate the university’s financial and physical performance. Particular scrutiny was applied to the status of ongoing infrastructure projects funded under the General Appropriations Act (GAA). University President Dr. Evaristo A. Abella spearheaded the presentation, highlighting the university’s key milestones and fiscal accomplishments from the preceding year. To further validate the infra projects, a technical team from the DBM—composed of Chief Budget and Management Specialist II Ms. Adoracion Q. Mangalino, and Specialists Ms. Andrea Anne R. Tulabut and Ms. Arnelie R. Guiao—conducted on-site inspections of both ongoing and completed physical infrastructure developments to ensure compliance with government standards and timelines. The key officials present were Vice President for Administration, Dr. Ariel G. Mactal, Director of Financial Management Services Office, Ms. Jinky Parugrug, Director of Strategic Planning and Infrastructure Management Office, Mr. Ryan Esteban, Director of Administrative Services Office, Dr. Cheryl Ramos, and Director of Human Resource Management and Development Office, Mr. Jonathan Gurion, to provide data-driven insights and respond to specific inquiries regarding their respective functional areas. The session concluded with an open forum, further reinforcing CLSU’s commitment to transparency, collective decision-making, and good governance.
