CAg Students Participate in Int'l Programs

Three College of Agriculture (CAg) students represented Central Luzon State University (CLSU) in two international programs organized by University Consortium - Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (UC-SEARCA) in Malaysia and Indonesia from July 9 - 25, 2023. A senior student from the Department of Animal Science, Carl Joshua E. Balmores attended the 2023 Asian Association of Agricultural Colleges and Universities (AAACU) Summer Enrichment Program with the theme "Exploring Urban Agriculture in the Heart of Metropolitan Cities," hosted by Universiti Putra Malaysia to provide an avenue to learn about current developments, practices, and technologies in the field of agriculture. Balmores was recognized as Best Male Participant for his impressive performance and insights and was also part of the Best Group (3rd Place) during the 7-day program. On the other hand, Christopher D. Regalado and April Luna attended the 7th Summer Course Program with the theme "Challenges and Opportunities for Livestock and Agricultural Production in Responding to the Issue of the Global Food Crisis" held at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Regalado and Luna experienced the Indonesian language, culture, values, and engaged in livestock and agricultural activities including classroom lectures about theories and principles in animal science and agriculture. Moreover, Regalado was honored for his exceptional skills in Javanese letter writing, and both of them received certificates of achievement for their participation in the 14-day summer course program. All the students received support to attend these events from the university as a member institution of the UC-SEARCA network.

SCImago Ranks CLSU 2nd Among State Universities in PH; Leads in Innovation Metric

Central Luzon State University (CLSU) has achieved another significant milestone, solidifying its standing as the second top State University in the Philippines, following the University of the Philippines System, and seventh overall, according to the esteemed SCImago Institutions Ranking, which uses data from Scopus and SciVal. Driven by its vision to become a National Research University, CLSU's impact is evident across key ranking categories. DPWH Conducts Building Inspection of CLSU Dormitories

To ensure the safety and compliance with the National Building Code of the Philippines, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) 1st District Engineering Office of Nueva Ecija conducts a comprehensive inspection in all of the University dormitories today, June 24. The inspection aimed to assess the structural stability and electrical integrity of the dormitory facilities, ensuring that all the dormitories are safe for occupancy. Dr. Ariel G. Mactal, Vice President for Administration and the Commander of the University Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Center (UDRRMC), led the inspection and emphasized the university's commitment to providing a safe and conducive living environment for its students. Mr. Alfred Jay M. Pondoc, Structural Engineer, and Mr. Rizalino M. Calitis, Electrical Engineer, from DPWH led the inspection team along with other technical staff. Their expertise was crucial in evaluating the technical aspects of the dormitories. The inspection team meticulously examined various components of the dormitory buildings, including their foundations, walls, roofs, and other load-bearing elements. Structural assessments focused on identifying any signs of wear, deterioration, or potential weaknesses that could compromise the buildings' stability. Furthermore, the electrical engineers inspected the dormitories' electrical systems. The inspection included the checking of wiring, circuit breakers, outlets, and compliance with electrical safety standards. The goal was to identify and address any potential hazards, such as faulty wiring or overloaded circuits, which could pose risks of fire or electrical shock. The staff of Physical Plant and Site Development Services (PPSDs), who are responsible for the building and physical structures also joined the inspection led by Engr. Renato B. Dela Cruz, Chief, Electrical and Telephone Services, Arch. Jeffrey Larua, University Architect, and Engr. Onasis Peru, Head Technical Working Group for Infrastructure. CLSU and DPWH's collaborative efforts show the importance of inter-agency cooperation in maintaining public infrastructure. The findings and recommendations from this inspection will be instrumental in guiding necessary repairs, upgrades, and maintenance programs for the CLSU Dormitories, ultimately ensuring a safer and more secure living space for its student residents. #SievingForExcellence

CLSU Earns CHED Recognition for Exemplary Performance in THE Impact Rankings

The Central Luzon State University (CLSU), alongside 113 Philippine Higher Education Institutions (PHEIs), has once again recognized by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) for its participation and exemplary performance in the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings during an event dubbed as ‘Ranked and Recognized: A Celebration of PHEIs,’ held on June 24, 2025 at CHED Auditorium, Diliman, Quezon City. The event acknowledged PHEIs that were ranked in the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings for their commendable contributions to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the QS World University Rankings. In her message, the newly appointed CHED Chairperson, Dr. Shirley C. Agrupis, shared that there was a 5,500% increase in the number of PHEIs participating in the THE Impact Rankings since 2019, making the country one of the most represented in Southeast Asia. She also expressed her gratitude and commended the universities for their ongoing efforts to advance academic and institutional excellence. She emphasized her continued commitment to supporting PHEIs in making a meaningful impact on the global stage. The event also featured a celebratory dinner followed by a presentation on the THE Dashboard Project led by Mariano Marcos State University. Representing CLSU were President Dr. Evaristo A. Abella, together with Dr. Parsons N. Hail, International Affairs Director, and Assoc. Prof. Maria Adrielle S. Estigoy, Presidential Management Services Director. Prior to the event, President Abella, along with the Directors, paid a courtesy visit to CHED Chairperson Agrupis to express their full support for her leadership and vision as the newly appointed head of the Commission. #SievingForExcellence
