The College of Education participated in the Southeast Asia Student Pre-Service Teacher Exchange Program (SEA Teacher Project) 5th Batch held on January 28-February 18, 2018.
The project caters pre-service student teachers whose major are in Math, Science, English and Pre-school to have the opportunity of conducting their practicum within Southeast Asian countries.
It aims to enable pre-service student teachers to develop their teaching skills and pedagogy, to encourage the pre-service student teachers to practise their English skills, and to allow the pre-service student teachers to gain a broader regional and world view.
Five foreign student-teachers were received by the CLSU namely, Farida Ulfa (English), Kartika Rahayu Utami (English), from Pakuan University (UNPAK) – Indonesia, Risman Alifin (Mathematics) from Halu Oleu University (UHO), Indonesia, and Kotchapan Srikhamchon (Mathematics) Warangkana Wichiansri (General Science) from Khon Kaen University (KKU) – Thailand.
CEd also sent five students abroad namely: Lovely Shayne Dela Cruz, (BSEd-English) and Joyce Lyn Carreon (BEEd) to Pakuan University (UNPAK) Indonesia, Meryl Joyce Cabinian (English) Halu Oleo University Indonesia, Jezreel Mica Dizon (BEEd) to Suratthani Rajabhat University, Surat Thai, Thailand, Jessica Patrice De Paula (BEEd) Universitas Negeri Padang (UNP), Indonesia.
“This is a great opportunity for CEd’s internationalization activities. Here, students are given the opportunity to experience teaching on a multi-cultural level.”, said Dr. Regidor G. Gaboy, SEA Teacher Coordinator for CLSU and Dean, College of Education.
SEA Teacher Project has started in October 2014 by the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education through the SEAMEO Council. It has seven priority areas for SEAMEO to work together to improve the quality of education in Southeast Asia.
