In a bid to promote environmental conservation and sustainable development, the College of Fisheries (CF) and Freshwater Aquaculture Center conducted a series of coastal clean-up activities which provides opportunities for students, faculty and staff to promote the conservation and sustainable use of the oceans, seas, and marine resources for sustainable development.   To sustain these kind of initiatives, such activities are incorporated in the curriculum as part of the field activity like in the course Coastal Resource Management, where students, faculty and staff conducted a clean-up drive along Tondol Beach in Anda, Pangasinan on May 2, 2023, under the mentorship of Dr. Lorenz J. Fajardo, CF Acting Dean.   Meanwhile, in collaboration with the Alpha Sigma Phi, the CF also conducted a clean-up activity at the 1-km stretch of the Gabaldon-Catalanacan River located in Science City of Muñoz, Nueva Ecija attended by 12 members of Alpha Sigma Phi including BS Fisheries and BS Development Communication students, and support staff last May 13, 2023.   This clean-up is a joint activity of Alpha Sigma Phi – Delta Iota, a student organization of CLSU wherein around 25 individuals participated the said activity including Dr. Alvin T. Reyes, Department Head of Aquatic Post-Harvest, and Mr. Mark Anthony M. Ventura and Mr. Ismael P. Geroza, CF-FAC support staff.   Furthermore, the Fisheries Management students also participated in a coastal clean-up activity in Barangay Sto. Niño, San Felipe, Zambales last December 3, 2022. This activity was part of the college's efforts to promote environmental cleanliness and conservation in cooperation with the local officials and government units involved.   The CF and FAC has been consistent with these initiatives as the main units of the university working on aquaculture and fisheries related concerns in terms of research, development and extension. In 2022, a clean-up drive was also conducted within the 1-km stretch of the Labi River situated in Barangay Labi, Bongabon, Nueva Ecija on December 11, 2022.
