CHEd Technical Panel Evaluates 8 CLSU Programs for COPC Issuance

Eight curricular programs of Central Luzon State University were subjected to the technical evaluation of Commission on Higher Education (CHEd) to obtain a Certificate of Program Compliance (COPC) held from March 20-21, 2024. The technical panel evaluated the following programs; Doctor of Philosophy in Plant Breeding offered by the College of Agriculture (CAg), Master of Science in Agroecology offered by the College of Science (COS), Doctor of Philosophy in Rural Development, Master of Science in Rural Development, Doctor of Philosophy in Development Communication, Master of Science in Development Communication, Master of Arts in Literature and Bachelor of Arts in International Studies offered by the College of Arts and Social Sciences (CASS). The team composed of Dr. Roel Palo Anicas, Education Supervisor Il of CHEd Central Luzon Region, along with Ms. Charity M. Barrera, CHEd-Office of Program and Standards Development, Dr. Aimee Lynn B. Dupo (UP Los Baños), Dr. Rosana P. Mula (Benguet State University), Dr. Hope S. Yu (University of San Carlos – Cebu) conducted an on-site evaluation of the programs while Dr. Jose Reuben Alagaran (Polytechnic University of the Philippines) and Dr. Madelive M. Suva (UP Los Baños) conducted the evaluation via online platform. During the program, Dr. Anicas emphasized the importance of the conduct of assessment to provide State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) an objective assessment to address the gaps and issues that will make the program offering compliant to policies, standards, and guidelines of CHEd. In response, Dr. Ravelina R. Velasco, VP for Academic Affairs acknowledged the recommendations and observations of the evaluators and expressed her gratitude in helping CLSU to improve its curricular offerings especially the newly offered programs of CASS. "Rest assured that all your recommendations will be considered and the local task force will comply with the requirements to secure the COPCs of our programs," said Dr. Velasco. It can be recalled that in 2022, CLSU received the COPC Award for SUCs during the CHED Gawad Parangal 2022 being the 4th ranked SUC with the most outstanding number of issued COPC, as well as one of the nine SUCs with the highest number of Center of Excellence (COE) in the country.

AACCUP Grants CLSU Highest Institutional Accreditation – Level IV

The Central Luzon State University (CLSU) has been officially granted Level IV Institutional Reaccredited Status, the highest possible recognition from the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP). This prestigious achievement positions CLSU among the top-tier universities in the country, signifying a commitment to national and global standards of academic excellence. While the official scores have yet to be released, the team evaluators, headed by Dr. Anthony Penaso, team leader and Bohol Island State University President together with Dr. Milabel Enriquez-Ho, AACCUP Executive Director, commended the University for its exceptional performance during the validation visit held on July 1-4, 2025. The AACCUP evaluation rigorously assessed nine key areas: Governance and Management; Teaching, Learning, and Evaluation; Faculty and Staff; Research; Extension and Consultancy; Linkages; Support to Students; Library, Infrastructure, and Learning Resources; and Quality Assurance Culture, ensuring that every aspect of the university meets and exceeds national benchmarks for academic and operational excellence. University President Dr. Evaristo A. Abella, expressed his gratitude towards the whole CLSU community for this achievement, especially the relentless effort of the faculty and staff from the preparation up to the actual onsite assessment. “This achievement once again demonstrated the dedication of the entire CLSU community to achieve excellence. I am truly grateful to our faculty, staff, and everyone involved who are always ready to go above and beyond what is required to advance the stature of our beloved University and achieve greater heights and pivotal milestones such as this Level IV AACCUP institutional accreditation." CLSU received its first Institutional Accreditation (IA) last 2011 with Level II status and now, after more than a decade, is re-accredited to Level IV. This prestigious IA Level IV certification, which is valid for five years, solidifies CLSU’s standing as a world-class higher education institution.

CLSU Elects New Sectoral Leaders to Strengthen Employee Welfare and Professional Growth

Central Luzon State University (CLSU) has elected new leaders for its major sectoral associations this year. Each plays a crucial role in representing the interests and welfare of the university's diverse community. The newly elected presidents will oversee their associations and lead initiatives to support faculty, staff, and allied services employees. Mr. Ryan B. Esteban is the new President of the Allied Services Employees Association (ASEA) as elected last March 3, 2025. ASEA is a vital association that contributes and supports the welfare and professional growth of CLSU's allied services employees. The association is committed to developing and implementing programs and projects designed to enhance and upgrade the status of its members. Assoc. Prof. Jeorge M. Dela Cruz is the new President of the Faculty Association Incorporated (FAI) who won in the election held last September 10, 2025. The FAI serves as a critical forum for discussing and addressing current issues affecting the welfare of all faculty members in relation to the university administration. It also provides policy directions and tackles issues that will benefit its members. The FAI President also serves as a member of the Board of Regents after taking an oath before them. Dr. Virgilio D. Viernes Jr. has been elected President of the CLSU Labor Union of Teachers and Employees (CLUTCHES) last August 29, 2025. This Union is responsible for ensuring full protection to its members, recognizing the rights of teachers and other employees to self-organization, collective bargaining, and security of tenure. CLUTCHES's mission is to ensure just and humane conditions of work for its members. These new sectoral leaders, who will serve for two years, are expected to work closely with the university administration to ensure a productive and supportive environment for all members of the CLSU community. #SievingForExcellence

CTEC Kicks Off its Career Caravan in Guimba, NE

Following the official opening of the College Admission Test (CAT) application period, the Central Luzon State University (CLSU), through its Testing and Evaluation Center (CTEC), officially kicked off its 2025 Career Caravan dubbed as LIPAD (Learn & Live your Interests, Passions, Ambitions, and Dreams) today, September 12 at the Bartolome Sangalang National High School (BSNHS) in Guimba, Nueva Ecija. Faculty members from the College of Arts and Social Sciences, who introduced their undergraduate programs, and the Office of Student Affairs, which facilitated career planning sessions, joined the CTEC in this initiative. The event concluded with the launching of the Mobile CLSU-CAT Online Application, which allowed BSNHS senior high school students to begin their application process onsite, providing a convenient and concrete first step toward their academic future at the university. The LIPAD" Career Caravan is a series of events in different high schools that aims to help students make informed decisions about academic and career choices by focusing on their individual strengths and interests. It further emphasises the importance of aligning academic paths with personal passions, skills, and long-term professional goals. Through this initiative, CLSU reaffirms its commitment to guiding and empowering young learners, helping them to soar toward their dream course.
