CLSU-CEd and SDO Muñoz Launch Projects on Reading Intervention

The Central Luzon State University through the College of Education (CLSU-CEd) and the Schools Division Office (SDO) of Science City of Muñoz launched two projects to address the challenges faced by struggling readers within the Schools Division of Science City of Muñoz, Nueva Ecija on March 04, 2024. Dr. Michelle T. Jayme, Schools Division - Early Language, Literacy and Numeracy Program (ELLN) Coordinator, spearheaded the launching of Project ZERO which aims to reorient teachers on the proper administration of reading assessment using Philippine Informal Reading Inventory (Phil-IRI) tools and capacitate them on the appropriate use of reading intervention materials. In tandem with Project ZERO, Assoc. Prof. Mark Gill M. Mercado, faculty from the CEd - Department of Early Childhood and Elementary Education led the launching of the second phase of the BE SURE: Be a Successful Reader Project, Adopt-a-Reader Remediation and Intervention Initiative, a comprehensive reading intervention and remediation program for select elementary students in the division, with a primary focus on improving the reading proficiency of struggling readers. The launching at Muñoz National High School represents a significant step towards improving literacy in the city and the commitment of the SDO Muñoz and CLSU-CEd to prioritize the needs of struggling readers, provide them with the support they need to succeed and create a more inclusive and supportive learning environment for all students, ensuring that no child is left behind in their educational journey. The event was graced by the Schools Division Superintendent, Dr. Johanna N. Gervacio, Assistant Schools Division Superintendent, Dr. Ronilo E. Hilario, and the Chief of Curriculum Implementation Division, Dr. Larry B. Espiritu.

CLSU Secures AUN-QA Certification for 4 Add'l Curricular Programs

Central Luzon State University (CLSU) has once again demonstrated its commitment to international standards by earning the esteemed ASEAN University Network Quality Assurance (AUN-QA) certification for four additional curricular programs. Abella expressed his gratitude and emphasized the importance of this achievement in CLSU’s pursuit of academic distinction. “Securing the AUN-QA certification for these programs underscores our unwavering commitment to quality assurance and international standards. This accomplishment not only reflects the excellence of our academic programs but also reinforces CLSU’s reputation as a leader in higher education,” Dr. Abella stated. With the inclusion of these four programs, CLSU now holds a total of 11 AUN-QA-certified programs, further upholding its position as a center of academic excellence in the region and beyond. Passion Meets Play: 2025 North Luzon Basketball League at CLSU

The National Basketball Training Center (NBTC) brought the ‘madness’ to Central Luzon State University (CLSU) with the North Luzon Regional Championship, held from January 16 to 19, 2025. The event featured 24 local champions ages 20 and under from various provinces competing in an intense series of highly competitive matches, showcasing their skills and determination on the court. The Doc Boleros from Camanava cemented their back-to-back championship status with an impressive 87-72 victory over the Luid Kapampangan from Pampanga. In addition to hosting this prestigious tournament, the NBTC has been actively working to enhance basketball facilities at CLSU, creating lasting benefits for both current and future athletes. The event also offered an excellent opportunity to witness the exceptional skills and competitive spirit of teams from diverse regions. Founded by former basketball player and coach Eric Altamirano, the NBTC serves as the official grassroots basketball program of the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas Inc. Its mission is to identify, nurture, and develop young talents from various provinces, paving the way for their growth in the sport.

CLSU Joins Uhay Festival Grand Parade and Float Competition

Central Luzon State University (CLSU) proudly joined the 12th Uhay Festival Grand Parade and Float Competition today, January 20, showcasing the city’s agricultural and scientific advancements through a vibrant and meticulously crafted float. Titled “Layag,” the CLSU float symbolized the university’s significant contributions to the agri-fishery sector. It featured artistic elements that celebrated the strong bond between CLSU and the Science City of Muñoz community. A striking figure of a fisherman stood prominently on the float, representing CLSU’s pioneering role in innovation and discovery, both in the Philippines and beyond. University President Dr. Evaristo A. Abella led the CLSU parade, accompanied by the Administrative Council, faculty, and staff, proudly marching together to celebrate the university’s legacy and partnership with the community.
