CLSU Conducts Webinar Series on Sustainable Resource Management

The Central Luzon State University through the College of Fisheries (CF), Freshwater Aquaculture Center (FAC) and the Institute for Climate Change and Environmental Management (ICCEM) organized a webinar series on sustainable resource management to uphold #CLSU’s commitment to the attainment of the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In line with this, the webinar entitled "Ecosystem Approach to Fisheries Management (EAFM): Engaging Stakeholders for Sustainable Resource Use in Fisheries Management Areas (FMA) was held last May 27, 2023 with Mr. Majen M. Cansinillo, the Officer-in-Charge of the Fisheries Resource Management Section of the BFAR - Regional Office 10 as the guest speaker and discussed the components and objectives of EAFM, and the significant roles of stakeholders in the efficient implementation of the program. Moreover, the CF and ICCEM organized a seminar entitled, "Agronomy to Gastronomy: Sustainable Producing Farmers and Responsible Eating Consumers," on May 10, 2023, which was attended by a total of 138 participants. The event was led by the BSF 4-2 students enrolled in the subject FISH 4398 (Seminar), supervised by Dr. Lorenz J. Fajardo, which aimed to promote the Sustainable Development Goals, specifically SDG 12: Sustainable Consumption and Production, SDG 13: Climate Action, and SDG 14: Life Below Water. The Founder and Senior Executive Director of Youmanitarian International, Mr. Clarence Luther S. Bulanadi, served as the Resource Speaker, where he shared an overview of the challenges being faced by the Agricultural and Fisheries sector in the Philippines due to climate change. He also discussed the impacts of food wastage on the environment and provided various and simple ways to be a responsible farmer and consumer to help reduce food wastage and encourage a sustainable lifestyle. In closing, he reiterated that "the problem of Climate Change is global, but the solution is local."

Heart@Work: CHED Boosts Leadership Essentials for CLSU Leaders

The Commission on Higher Education (CHED), through the Office of Commissioner Dr. Desiderio R. Apag III, successfully concluded a two-day workshop on transformative leadership for the senior and middle managers of Central Luzon State University (CLSU) held on October 27-28, 2025. Entitled "Heart @ Work, Shaping the Future of Higher Education: Empowering SUC Personnel for Purposeful, Professional and Productive Services," the initiative was designed to provide CLSU executives an opportunity to deepen their self-awareness and hone their abilities to become more influential and transformative leaders. The training featured Dr. Emmanuel F. Silan, Co-Founder and Lead Consultant of Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) Manila Corporation. Dr. Silan’s sessions provided deep insights into practical skills, specifically focusing on Self-Awareness, Transforming Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), and Leadership Essentials. Meanwhile, leading by example, University President Dr. Evaristo A. Abella participated in the workshop, showcasing his support for elevating leadership style. In his opening address, he expressed profound gratitude to the office of Commissioner Apag for partnering with CLSU to cultivate a culture of transformative and service-oriented leadership. Dr. Ariel G. Mactal, Vice President for Administration, formally concluded the workshop with a compelling call to action, urging the executives to put their heart into everything they do and embody a responsive leadership style characterized by a "heart that gives, a heart that understands, a heart that comforts, and a heart that responds” ultimately directing all efforts toward the advancement of CLSU and the greater national benefit. CLSU Strengthens Partnerships Through a Series of MOU and MOA Signings

The Central Luzon State University (CLSU) once again took significant steps in expanding its collaborative network by signing a series of Memoranda of Agreement (MOAs) and Understanding (MOU) aimed at promoting sustainable aviation, industry engagement, and youth empowerment. The series of signing ceremony was led by the University President, Dr. Evaristo A. Abella, were held on October 24, 2025. CLSU, through its Center for Renewable Energy & Technology (CREaTe) and the Department of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering (DABE), represented by Dr. Wendy C. Mateo, Director of CREaTe, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Island Skies Alliance (ISA), represented by Mr. Junard J. Cruz, Chief Executive Officer of ISA. ISA, a nonprofit organization focused on sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), recognizes CLSU as a key institution in developing feedstock for SAF. This partnership makes CLSU important in promoting renewable energy in aviation, supporting SDG 13 (Climate Action) and SDG 7 (Clean Energy). Both parties will collaborate and strive to improve sustainability and decarbonization efforts in aviation. Meanwhile, through the CLSU Laboratory for Teaching and Learning - Agricultural Science and Technology School (CLTL-ASTS), led by Dr. Ma. Catalina D. Cadiz, the university partnered with REM Pizza Parlor (Shakey’s San Jose), represented by Ms. Camille Elizabeth N. Saculles, Branch Manager. This agreement helps CLTL-ASTS Senior High School Students meet TESDA industry standards and gain in-demand skills, making them more competitive for future employment and entrepreneurship. Lastly, the Office of Student Affairs (OSA), led by Dr. Irene G. Bustos, renewed its partnership with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), represented by Ms. Mylene L. Evangelista Chief of Labor and Employment of DOLE Nueva Ecija. The agreement aims to enhance the Job Placement Office (JPO) at CLSU by protecting labor rights, promoting full employment, ensuring equal opportunities regardless of sex, race, or creed, and regulating worker-employer relations. This demonstrates CLSU's commitment to fostering a sustainable employment ecosystem for graduates and the community. These partnerships exemplify CLSU's holistic approach to institutional growth and public service, highlighting its commitment to driving progress across various local and global sectors. #SievingForExcellence
