CLSU debuts in THE Global Impact Rankings, tops 2 SDGs among PH Universities

The Central Luzon State University (CLSU) debuted in the 601-800 bracket of the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings 2022 which measured the performance of 1,406 world universities on the attainment of United Nations’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).   The University submitted its initiatives and contributions to the 10 SDGs which reflect its mission to the peoples and communities it serves such as (1) No Poverty, (2) Zero Hunger, (4) Quality Education, (5) Gender Equality, (7) Affordable and Clean Energy, (11) Sustainable Cities and Communities, (13) Climate Action, (14) Life Below Water, (15) Life on Land, and (17) Partnerships for the Goals.    Among the Philippine universities included in this year’s global impact ranking, CLSU performed best in the goal of conserving the aquatic ecosystem and using global water resources sustainably through the initiatives primarily led by the College of Fisheries and Freshwater Aquaculture Center as well as in the goal of combating climate change and its impacts through the stewardship of the University’s Institute for Climate Change and Environmental Management (ICCEM).   CLSU also demonstrated its strong achievement in the goal of combating national hunger through the development of professionals and experts in the field of agriculture, the goal of supporting the land and ecosystem through its policies and actions in sustainable management of its terrestrial resources for educational and tourism purposes, and goal of affordable and clean energy through its programs in reducing carbon emissions, efficient use of energy on campus, and research on renewable energy.   The full ranking of participating universities can be accessed from: https://www.timeshighereducation.com/rankings/impact/2022/overall   #THEglobalimpact #THEunirankings #CLSUInternationalization #ProudCLSUans

OSA Partners with DTI to Sharpen Business Skills among CLSU Students

The Office of Student Affairs-Career Development and Employment Services Unit (OSA-CDESU) in collaboration with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) - Nueva Ecija conducted a capacity-building and skills enhancement activities on entrepreneurship among students on March 12-14, 2025 at the DHTM Lounge. With more than 30 participants, including the newly formed CLSU Student Economic Enterprise Group (CSEEG) established under OSA, the three-day seminar-workshop, dubbed "YEP! You Can Be Your Own Boss," is in line with the DTI-Youth Entrepreneurship Program (YEP), which aims to teach foundational business skills among the youth, including recognizing opportunities and clients, managing financing, and strategizing business plans. The seminar-workshop commenced with Dr. Irene G. Bustos, OSA Dean, giving an overview of the event and introducing the module. It was filled with activities and learning opportunities, covering topics such as business fundamentals, operations, finance, and communication. The workshop concluded with a business pitching competition, allowing participants to apply what they had learned. This initiative, led by Associate Professor Magdalena Galang, Career Development Coordinator, and Service Coordinator for Persons with Disabilities and Students with Special Needs section of the Guidance Services Unit, marked a significant milestone in equipping students with the essential skills for entrepreneurship, addressing sustainable development goals related to poverty reduction, economic growth, and the promotion of decent work. #DecentWorkAndEconomicGrowth #SDG8 #sievingforexcellence

CLSU Signs Partnership with Private Sector to Boost Climate Change Initiatives

Central Luzon State University (CLSU), through the Institute for Climate Change and Environmental Management (ICCEM), signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Climate Action and Sustainable Association Inc. (CLASEAI) on March 14, 2025, as part of its commitment to environmental sustainability. This agreement signifies a mutual commitment between the two environmentally conscious institutions to develop programs aimed at disseminating knowledge regarding the challenges posed by climate change and launching activities that address both adaptation and mitigation strategies. The partnership was formalized by Dr. Evaristo A. Abella, University President, and Dr. Annie Melinda P. Alberto, CLASEAI President and former CLSU faculty member. The signing was witnessed by Dr. Ravelina R. Velasco, Vice President for Academic Affairs; Dr. Angeles M. De Leon, Dean of the College of Science; and Dr. Shirly C. Serrano, Head of ICCEM, as part of the Institute’s weeklong anniversary celebration. President Abella expressed his optimism about achieving climate change resiliency, asserting that the shared commitment of CLSU and CLASEAI will inspire younger generations, especially the CLSU Community, to continue in pursuit of this endeavor and carry with them the mantle of environmental stewardship. Dr. Alberto reassured attendees that CLSU could emerge as a leading model for state universities in Region III by diligently implementing climate change adaptation and mitigation practices. CLSU Enhances Disaster Preparedness through Earthquake Drill and Casualty Simulations

Central Luzon State University (CLSU) joined the 1st Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) today, March 13 to ensure that students, faculty, and staff know the necessary actions to take during an earthquake. The University Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (UDRRMC), with Vice President for Administration Dr. Ariel G. Mactal as the Commander, is spearheading the drill in coordination with the Institute for Climate Change and Environmental Management (ICCEM) and University Health Services (UHS). Students near the identified command center practiced the "Duck, Cover, and Hold.” Moreover, a simulation of casualties was included to test the university’s emergency response capabilities. The successful execution of the NSED proves the University's dedication to disaster risk reduction, ensuring that the university remains a safe and secure environment for the entire CLSU Community.
