In support of the Commission on Higher Education’s (CHEd) Initiative to celebrate the ingenuity of Filipinos, the Central Luzon State University, through the Strategic Communication (StratCom) Office, showcased the University’s agriculture and fisheries (agrifishery) technology innovations during the Likha: Creative Industries Summit 2024, held on October 17-18, at the University of Baguio. The University secured first runner-up in the Hugpungan exhibit competition, besting other schools from Regions 1, 2, 3, and the Cordillera Autonomous Region.
With the theme “Bayang Pinagpala, Lahing Manlilikha,” CLSU’s booth embodied the concept “traditional meets modernization,” highlighting the rich history of the university rooted in agriculture, technologies on smart agriculture, and products made of regional commodities such as tilapia and special purpose rice. The display materials, provided by the Center for Central Luzon Studies, Precision and Digitial Agriculture Center, Philippine-Sino Center for Agricultural Technology, Center for Tropical Mushroom R&D, Crops Resources R&D Center, and Freshwater Aquaculture Center, spanned across digital, audiovisual, and traditional domains of the creative corridors.
The CLSU exhibit was spearheaded by Asso. Prof. Maria Adrielle Estigoy, StratCom Chief, together with Mr. Jayson C. Berto, Ms. Jessica Ramento, Mr. Kougie Unido, and Mr. Florence Dave Asuncion, who also served as booth presenters.
President Evaristo A. Abella showed full support for this endeavor by gracing the CLSU booth and actively engaging with the visitors.
Additionally, Dr. Jay Santos, Dean of the College of Arts and Social Sciences, together with faculty members Asso. Prof. Christine Saturno, Mr. Adrian Pacres, and Mr. James Santua participated in the summit’s plenary sessions and workshops. They were tasked with drafting a proposal on the role of higher education institutions as creative hubs.
The summit, attended by CHED Chair Prospero “Popoy” De Vera, Jr., was held in celebration of the Philippine Creative Industries Month which is in accordance with Section 24 of Republic Act No. 11904 or the Philippine Creative Industries Development Act.
