Central Luzon State University (CLSU) through the College of Fisheries (CF) held a partnership meeting with the Universiti of Putra Malaysia (UPM) to explore research collaboration, student mobility, and hiring of faculty as adjunct professors at the OVPAA Conference Hall on July 27, 2023.
Dr. Evaristo A. Abella, VP for Administration and OIC, Office of the University President led the said meeting and welcomed the delegates of UPM and acknowledged the efforts of the CF faculty and staff in strengthening the linkages and network of the university.
“This partnership will be valuable for both universities for it is through linkages like this that we learn, we enhance our skills, we get and provide opportunities, and we develop new ideas to help the community we serve,” said Dr. Abella.
Meanwhile, Dr. Ahmad Zaharin Aris, Director of the International Institute of Aquaculture and Aquatic Sciences of UPM expressed his gratitude to CLSU for the warm welcome. He also highlighted that CLSU students and faculty are welcome to be part of the UPM community.
In her message, Dr. Ravelina R. Velasco, Acting VP for Academic Affairs (VPAA), emphasized that this collaboration will extend different opportunities for growth, collaboration, cutting-edge research, and learning.
Present at the event are the CF faculty led by Dr. Lorenz J. Fajardo, Dean, College of Fisheries, Dr. Karl Marx A. Quiazon, Director, Freshwater Aquaculture Center, and Dr. Hazel Monica M. Peralta who is also a UPM alumna. On the other hand, UPM delegates are composed of Dr. Murni Marlina Abd Karim, Head of Sustainable Aquaculture Laboratory, Dr. Ahmad Fikri Abdullah, Head of the Aquatic Ecosystem & Management Laboratory, and Dr. Clement Roy de Cruz, Coordinator of the Training & Services Unit for Community and Industry.
