To maintain a rabies-free community inside the campus, the College of Veterinary Science and Medicine (CVSM), in collaboration with the City of Veterinary Office of the Science City of Muñoz, organized a three-day event, from September 24-26, 2024, in celebration of World Rabies Day.
One of the key highlights of the event was the Rabies Mass Vaccination and Information Drive, which aimed to address the growing need for rabies prevention in the community. As part of this initiative, the CVSM organized a comprehensive seminar series at the CLSU Auditorium designed to deepen the knowledge and awareness of the CLSU community regarding the dangers of rabies.
Dr. Noraine P. Medina, Dean of the College of Veterinary Science and Medicine, delivered the welcome address, expressing appreciation to all participants and partner agencies for their dedicated participation in the event.
The topics covered in the seminar include the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in Pre-exposure and post-exposure prophylaxis, the Science City of Munoz Anti-Rabies Ordinance, Responsible Pet Ownership, and the Reporting System on Animal Bite Related Cases.
On the other hand, the Rabies Mass Vaccination will run from September 25-26 at the College of Veterinary Science and Medicine from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
Over 164 Doctor of Veterinary Medicine students, Faculty and Staff, and CLSU Village residents participated in the seminar and demonstrated enthusiasm for maintaining a rabies-free environment at CLSU.
