CLSU Joins Consortium on Industry, Energy, and Emerging Technology

The Central Luzon State University (CLSU) affirmed its commitment to boosting R&D innovation towards achieving sustainable development goals as it joined the Central Luzon Industry, Energy, and Emerging Technology Research and Development Consortium (CLIEERDEC) through a memorandum of agreement signing today, February 7 at the Savannah Resort Hotel, Clark City, Pampanga. Dr. Edgar A. Orden, Vice President for Research and Extension, represented the University President in the said event. According to him, the University recognizes the importance of R&D innovations in the industry, energy, and emerging technology thus asserting CLSU’s ground in pushing for more research engagement. Aside from CLSU, three other Higher Education Institutions signified their support to CLIEERDEC as new members, these include Bulacan Agricultural State College represented by President Jameson H. Tan, Pampanga State Agricultural University represented by President Anita G. David, and Tarlac Agricultural University. They were joined by CLIEERDEC Chair and NEUST President Dr. Feliciana P. Jacoba, CLIEERDEC Director Mariline C. Hipolito, and CLIEERDEC Co-Chair and Regional Director Dr. Julius Caesar V. Sicat. As member institutions, they are expected to identify, monitor, review, and update R&D programs and projects related to the thrust of the Consortium, screen and evaluate R&D proposals, and promote R&D results generated by member agencies/institutions. The CLIEERDEC operates under the Department of Science and Technology-Philippine Council for Industry, Energy, and Emerging Technology Research and Development (DOST-PCIEERD) with Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology as a base agency in Region 3.

Fulbright Opens Educational Opportunities for CLSU Faculty and Students

The Philippine-American Educational Foundation (PAEF) or the Fulbright Commission in the Philippines conducted a scholarship information session for the faculty and students of Central Luzon State University (CLSU) held at the R&E Amphitheater on February 29, 2024. Ms. Mila Tan, Senior Program Officer of PAEF provided a comprehensive overview of the various scholarship opportunities offered by the Fulbright Program. She also addressed queries from interested students and faculty members on the application process and encouraged them to participate in the Fulbright Program to pursue graduate study. "We want you to be part of the change for the better so when you come home from your academic pursuit as a Fulbright scholar, we expect you to be able to make an impact here in CLSU" said Ms. Mila Tan. Furthermore, the CLSU Fulbright Alumni shared their ventures, experiences in pursuing their studies abroad, and how Fulbright helped them become successful in their personal, academic, and professional pursuits. Dr. Ravelina R. Velasco, the Vice President for Academic Affairs graced the event along with faculty and students from various colleges. The event was organized by the International Affairs Office (IAO) together with the Fulbright-Foreign Language Teaching Assistant (FLTA) Alumni Association Philippines.

FAC, CF and IIRR Forge Partnership for Climate Solutions in Aquaculture

The Central Luzon State University (CLSU) through the Freshwater Aquaculture Center (FAC) and the College of Fisheries (CF) signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with the International Institute for Rural Reconstruction (IIRR) to address climate change impacts on small-scale aquaculture and foster sustainable aquatic food systems on February 27, 2024. The collaboration will implement an action research project titled "Building an Evidence Base for Inclusive Nature-based Climate Solutions in Small-scale Aquaculture for Sustainable Aquatic Food Systems in the Philippines and Cambodia” funded by the International Development Research Council (IDRC) of Canada. University President, Dr. Evaristo A. Abella and Mr. Arvin Jay Carandang, Project Manager of AQUADAPT PhilCam led the MOA signing with Dr. Karl Marx A. Quiazon, Director of the Freshwater Aquaculture Center, Dr. Emmanuel Vera Cruz, Dean of the College of Fisheries, Dr. Jonathan V. Fabula, Director of the University Research Program Office (URPO), and Prof. Janet O. Saturno, Director of University Gender and Development Office as witnesses. Also present were some faculty researchers and staff of FAC and CF. IIRR is a non-profit organization and one of the world’s leading rural-focused NGOs focusing specifically on rural communities.

CLSU takes 17th spot in PH; Leads HEIs in Region 3 based on Webometrics

Central Luzon State University (CLSU) ranked 17th among the 363 universities based on the latest edition of Webometrics Ranking of World Universities further solidifying its position as a leading institution in the country and the leading Higher Education Institution (HEI) in Central Luzon. Moreover, CLSU positioned itself as 1,768th HEI in Asia and 5,126th in the world. The Webometrics Ranking is published twice a year, covering more than 32,000 Higher Education Institutions worldwide based on the institution’s number of top-cited researchers (openness), top-cited papers (excellence), and substantial web visibility (web content impact).
