To officially welcome students to Central Luzon State University (CLSU) for the Academic Year (AY) 2024-2025, the Office of Student Affairs (OSA) and the University Supreme Student Council (USSC) organized the annual event dubbed as SIKAD: Sining Kalinangan, Agapay at Dalubhasaan, from August 12-14, 2024. The event kicked off with the SDG Parade inspired by the concept of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals. Over 4,000 freshies accompanied by senior students from the different colleges marched in their respective unit colors starting from the Visionary gate proceeding the Dr. Pedro A. Abella Graduation site for the opening program. During the opening program, Senator Manuel “Lito” Lapid delivered an inspirational message, encouraging students to pursue their studies. He emphasized that the knowledge and skills they acquire will continue to benefit them throughout their lives. “Huwag niyong pababayaang matapos ang maghapon na wala kayong natutunan na kahit isang bagay mula sa inyong mga guro at professor… Habang buhay nyong dadalhin ang inyong titulo, kaalaman at pinag-aralan.” On the first day of SIKAD, students enthusiastically participated in the GADlympics, a sports event promoting gender friendly activities, including zumba, earthball, billiards, badminton, and lawn tennis. Additionally, a number of students showcased their entrepreneurial skills by opening their stores for the BIZZ-Arangkada Bazaar. The day concluded with MagpaSIKAD, an event held at the CLSU Auditorium to showcase the talents of CLSUans. The three-day event features a variety of activities, including leadership seminar, first-year orientation, bubble run, educational tour, and cultural show among others. How was your first day, CLSUans? Share your stories in the comment section below. #CLSUSIKAD24 #SLAYYOURSIKADEXPERIENCE
