As it marked its 111th Founding Anniversary last April 12, Central Luzon State University vowed to continue “spreading cheers to humanity.”  This theme which guided the week-long celebrations was inspired by a  line from the  Universitry Hymn, “CLSU…spreads  cheers all over the whole wide world”. The series of activities participated in  by university faculty, staff and students was highlighted by a recognition program for  Service Awardees (46 faculty members and 64 non-academic staff) who have served the university with loyalty and dedication from 20 years to 45 years; and   29 retirees.. Moreover, the university recognized 2 faculty members, and 1 official under the Academic Program, 3 non-academic staff members,  1 research and development team; and 1 presidential awardee under the PRAISE (Program on Awards and Incentives for  Service Excellence) awards.     The recognition program was held in the afternoon of April 12 at the RET Amphitheater. Meanwhile, every letter of the word ‘CHEERS’, in the context of the foundation day  celebration and commemoration, was given by Dr. Tereso A. Abella, CLSU president, a deeper meaning vis-à-vis the role CLSU plays as an institution of higher learning providing various services to its clientele in the country and beyond. In his State of the University Address in the evening of April 13,  President Abella, said: C - stands for the six Centers of Excellence  of CLSU; H - is for Human Resource which,  in the Academic Program alone, comprises 131 BS degree; 200 MS/MA, and 101 Ph.,D. degree holders; E  - is for Exemplary Performance of  the faculty, staff, and students, and the institution as a whole as evidenced by various prestigious awards and recognition; and students’ outstanding feat in licensure examinations; E -  is for Extension Services that helped produce, among others, champion farmers who adopted CLSU technologies; R - is for Relevant Knowledge and Technologies which have been generated through painstaking research undertakings/initiatives; and S - is for significant Partnerships which bolstered the university’s national and, moreover,   international linkages. “We will remain true to our mandate to provide excellent service to humanity, because we have vowed to commit ourselves to render service that will contribute to the welfare of the people, community and country,”  President Abella.said.
