CLSU Receives CHED-EQUATE Awards for Excellence in Teacher Education

The Central Luzon State University (CLSU), through its College of Education (CEd), has been honored by the Commission on Higher Education (CHEd) with the prestigious Excellence in Quality Assurance in Teacher Education (EQUATE) Award for both its Secondary and Elementary Education programs. This recognition earned CLSU the Dual Honor Award, which was formally conferred during a ceremony held on April 2, 2025, at the Manila Hotel. Dr. Florante P. Ibarra, College of Education Dean, representing University President Dr. Evaristo A. Abella, received the EQUATE Awards. Other CLSU delegates during the recognition program were Dr. Myla L. Santos, Department of Language, Culture, and Arts Education (DLCAED) Head, Dr. Jennifer V. Fajanela, Department of Education, Policy, and Practice (DEPP) Head, and Dr. Ma. Catalina D. Cadiz, Department of Technology, Livelihood, and Life Skills Education (DTLLSED) Head and CLSU Laboratory for Teaching and Learning (CLTL) Head. This award solidifies CLSU’s unwavering commitment to sustaining the highest standards in pre-service teacher education, its compliance with program accreditations, and its outstanding performance in the Board Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers (BLEPT), which further attests to the University’s adherence to both national and international standards, reaffirming CLSU’s dedication to sustaining excellence and producing highly competent future educators. This recognition strengthens CLSU’s reputation as a premier institution for teacher education, showcasing its unwavering commitment to providing high-quality, inclusive, and relevant teacher training. CLSU Hosts its First-ever Alumni Night

Central Luzon State University (CLSU) capped off its Grand Alumni Homecoming Week with the university’s first-ever Alumni Night on February 7, 2026, held at the FPJ Communication Hall. Organized by the Office of the President in partnership with the Alumni Relations Division under the Strategic Communication Office and the CLSU Alumni Association Inc. (CLSUAAI), the event provided a premier venue for graduates across generations to reconnect. The night fostered camaraderie, shared memories, and meaningful fellowship among the university’s alumni. The event was graced by prominent university figures and local leaders, including Dr. Danilo S. Vargas, President of CLSUAAI; Dr. Fiorello L. Abenes, President of CLSU International Alumni Association Inc.; Dr. Romeo V. Labios, Representative of the CLSU Society of COCOFED Grantees; and Hon. Baby Armi L. Alvarez, Mayor of the Science City of Muñoz. Highlighting the university’s artistic excellence, the evening featured performances by CLSU Maestro, Tanghalang Gagalaw, and the CLSU Bithay Sining Dance Company. OSA Dean Completes Student Affairs and Services Specialist Course

In her commitment to lifelong learning, Dr. Irene G. Bustos, Dean of the Office of Student Affairs (OSA), has successfully earned her Certificate in Student Affairs and Services (SAS) Specialist Course. The 78-hour hybrid program integrates online modules with intensive in-person workshops. The course also served as a premier professional development initiative, sharpening the competencies of student affairs practitioners through intensive discussions, workshops, and applied learning activities. This professional development program, offered by the University of Santo Tomas (UST) Center for Continuing Professional Education in partnership with the Philippine Association of Practitioners of Student Affairs and Services Inc. (PAPSAS), aimed to address contemporary challenges, emerging trends, and best practices in the field.

CLSU Holds Stakeholders’ Consultation for 2027 Budget Proposal

To ensure that the CLSU financial plan is transparent, accurate, and aligns priorities with institutional goals, the Office of the Vice President for Administration, Dr. Ariel G. Mactal, in coordination with the Financial Management Services Office, headed by Dir. Jinky A. Parugrug held a Stakeholders’ Consultation Meeting on February 05, 2026, in the Old Administration Conference Room. The consultation focused on gathering diverse inputs to strengthen CLSU’s core initiatives. Key priority areas for the 2027 fiscal year include Free Higher Education, Internationalization, Accreditation, IT modernization, facility repairs, vehicle refurbishment, extension projects, and climate change initiatives. University President Dr. Evaristo A. Abella, alongside the Vice Presidents and Administrative Council, engaged directly with sector representatives to ensure the budget reflects the actual needs of the community. Key stakeholders include Ms. Aljone V. Viterbo, USSC Chairperson, Dr. Virgilio Viernes, CLUTCHES President, Mr. Ryan Esteban, ASEA President, Dr. Danilo Vargas, CLSUAAI President, and Dr. Michael Mabalay, PGTA Representative. The session concluded with an open forum, reinforcing CLSU’s commitment to collective decision-making and good governance.
